CAMPREPORT
What a week! With a total of 37 canoers, camp was sure to be full of new friends, experiences, memories and plenty of laughs… not to mention sore muscles. With many campers embarking on their first canoe camp, the excitement soon overturned the nerves as we got to know our fellow canoeing buddies through the first 13km stint upon setting off.
We all bonded over a delicious barbecue on the first night, prepared by our incredible cooks. With stomachs full of breakfast and hearts full of God after Peter’s morning devotions, we set
off each morning excited to see what the day would bring. In between the great conversations had along the river, we all enjoyed the natural scenery and became accustomed to the noise of the cicadas.
On day four we embarked on what I’m sure many would call the greatest canoeing adventure of all times! A massive thank you to Peter Geldart, Geoff Pearse, the amazing cooks and the other legendary leaders who all made it an amazing camp full of fun, adventure and faith. Looking forward to see you all next year.
Blessings - Emily Dempster
Keeping In StepMARCH - JUNE 2017
Teen Canoe Camp 2017
2017’s Summer Coast camp was a great mix of fun and contemplating God. As a leader it was one of the smaller camps that I have been involved in which meant that everyone quickly got to know everyone else and we all got along swimmingly.
This made the activities that we did together all the more fun. Personal highlights include some fishing and sand-surfing while watching the sun set and an enjoyable afternoon hike in Wilson’s Prom.
The studies were carefully prepared by our speaker, Mark, to get us thinking about examples of bravely and boldly following God, such as Daniel in the courts of foreign kings and David’s Mighty Men. We were all challenged to look for the areas of our lives where God calls us to be brave and bold for Him. Anderson Murray.

CAMP
REPORTS
Once again Cape Bridgewater became the gathering point for teens across the south west and beyond for 5 days of fellowship, sun, surf and growing in God’s Word. The camp of 18 campers and 12 leaders included many afternoons at the beach; swimming, playing beach volley and hanging out.
The second day was the coastal walk with great sightseeing of seals colonies. Another main activity was the elective day allowing the campers to go sand boarding at the dunes or see the petrified Forrest and spend time at the beach.
Each night included the camp news comically presented by leaders Brad and Stephen; recapping the days’ events through photos and videos, the best by far included the wipe outs of the
sand dunes and many ‘nice Garry’ moments captured on camera. The news was followed by songs of praise lead by Tom and powerful testimonies/devos of both leaders and campers.
Over the camp we learnt of Gods power and sovereignty in storms. How Jesus is our firm strong foundation that won’t fail. Boldness and faith of Peter. And that the Holy Spirit is a person in the triune God whose mission is to point us to Christ and renew our lives to be children of the light.
Overall this camp was a great evidence of the faithfulness of God, provision and purpose to continue ESA teen ministry in Western Victoria grow and moving within both campers and leaders.
Can’t wait for next year!

Cape Bridgewater Camp
The 2017 Young Adults ESA Rock Climbing Camp was great fun! Friday night the group met up and camped at the base of Mt Arapiles in tents and swags.
There was a good mix of experience in the group. Some people had their first lead climb ever experience. We
had two Bible discussion times. Everyone in our camp got into the studies and contributed, which was great because we all learnt through those conversations. We talked about worship and how and why we as Christian people are to live that out 24/7.
Sunday we headed up the well trodden path to Bushrangers Bluff for a climb. Those relative new to lead
climbing were encouraged to have a lead which they did. There was some abseiling over the cave as well as a lot of laughter and chatter while watching people
climb the single pitch stuff. Sadly time came to pack up and head back to where we came from. Goodbyes were said to old and new friends and contact details exchanged.
As I said at the start of the report it was really a fun time, the climbing was great, people were awesome and the location of Mt Arapiles is always spectacular. If you are a young adult
and were thinking about coming and didn’t, you really missed out so I would encourage
you to get along to it this year, put it in your diary now, 17th- 19th November.
Blessings, Peter Geldart
Young Adult Rock Climbing Camp
CAMPREPORTS
It was another great year at Summer Teen Camp held at Philip Island Adventure Resort in January. 85 teenagers and 30 leaders enjoyed all of the activities the campsite has on offer including the Giant Swing, Waterslide, Archery, Basketball and the beach. Simon Burnett is the Pastor at Kyneton Baptist Church and grew up attending ESA Camps, Simon shared stories from his life and encouraged each person to continue to run their race and grow deeper in their spiritual journey.
Summer Teen Camp is led by Camp Director Julia Fulton and a great team of young leaders, this year’s theme during the activities was based around Food. Summer Camp is a great opportunity to build friendships with others of a similar age with many campers making Summer Camp an annual tradition. One of the building blocks of all ESA Camps is the focus on discipleship and again this year the young leaders took the opportunity to spend time encouraging and building friendships. We look forward to continuing to grow this camp to be an effective resource to parents and teenagers as they grow in life and their spiritual journey.

9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 NIV
As we begin another year I want to encourage you to not grow weary.
There’s much to do and much to achieve but as we move through another year let’s not grow weary and exhaust ourselves in a quick sprint.
Let’s learn from Jesus who took time off to Rest, Refresh and Recharge.
As I observe others it seems that those who achieve in life are intentional about their activities, there seems to be a plan to their lives with time built in for reflection and refreshing.
As we think about the things God is challenging us to participate in this year I encourage you to plan well.
Plan times of work, rest, play and prayer.
Work at the pace which allows you to do good for the whole year and not just the first few months.
Remember God promises a harvest at the right time. God encourages us to be faithful, keep praying, keep trusting and when the time is right we will see God’s hand at work in our situation so keep going and don’t lose heart.
So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit.
Galatians 6 v 9 The Message

In this edition you’ll read reports from our camps from the last few months, January was a busy month of camps across the state. I can do all things through Him that gives me strength. Philippians 4:13.
Our Mission (should we have chosen to accept) was based around this verse. A mission impossible theme quickly turned into a mission possible dream. God’s mission for us is simply to reach all of his children.
Our first day was an explosion of games, challenges and puzzles to solve. After collecting a magnetic nametag, everyone had to scan in to enter Mission Control (dining hall).
The beach, waterslide, canoeing and pool helped keep us cool in the 35°C weather. Our Boys/Girls Night gave everyone a chance to be themselves and be still with God.
The girls focused on some core strengths in being women of God and having a strong self-belief while the boys focused on bonding as brothers in Christ. They dove deep into how important it is to be aware of your feelings and your relationship with God. It was a blessing to see everyone (including leaders) be vulnerable and honest. The boys all signed a pledge to hold each other accountable while supporting one another as brothers and Men of God.
On the last day the Junior Camp joined with Teen campers for some worship and reflection on the highlights of each camp. This further excited and assisted campers who were transitioning into Teen Camp.
The whole camp was truly inspiring and unforgettable and I can’t wait to see new and familiar faces at the 2018 Junior Summer Camp.
God bless, Jordan Bailey (Camp director)
