We provide food, shelter and comprehensive services and inspire our community through collaboration,

recognizing that each person is created in the image and likeness of God, and that

God’s compassion transforms lives.

Dear Friends – the Summer season is here! Children are excited to begin their summer vacations; families may be spending some extra time together and Catholic Charities will continue to serve those with the greatest needs in our community. The extreme summer temperatures bring along some additional challenges for our clients who utilize the shelter and food programs, so please keep these vulnerable children of God in your prayers. Those who wish to help can support with a gift at CatholicCharities.com, sign up to take a Transforming Lives tour, or volunteer your time and talents with us - perhaps with family, friends or work peer groups. It’s a great way to experience the fun and joy of serving others, and be nourished by sharing ourselves with those in need. Our Spring Season was a very busy one. As you peruse this copy of Keeping in Touch, I continue to be so grateful and thankful to all of you for your support of our

Thank You for

GivingHOPE

mission and clients in so many beautiful and touching ways. Your support allows our dedicated team members to help people at a very vulnerable time in their lives. It is the blessings that we can share with others that help bring hope in our community, which truly does change the world, one person at a time. We have been blessed by the support of several of our Diocesan parishes, local businesses and individual donors. Their support allows our work to continue in our community to support those who struggle to survive each day.

We also welcome our new Bishop, George Leo Thomas, Ph.D. who has come to us from the Diocese of Helena, Montana. Bishop Jo-seph Pepe has reached his man-datory retirement age, and Pope Francis has once again blessed us with another Shepherd to lead our Diocese and community into the future. I look forward to Bishop Thomas’ engagement with Catholic Charities and throughout the Diocese of Las Vegas.

Thank you again for your prayers and support of those we serve. Please know that every gift, large and small, makes a difference in the lives that we touch through your generosity. With blessings and a grateful heart, Deacon Tom

In honor of National Migration Week, a special Mass was celebrated on January 9, with Most Reverend Joseph A. Pepe, our former Bishop of the Diocese of Las Vegas. The 2018 theme, “Many Journeys, One Family,” draws attention to the fact that each of our families have a migration story, some recent and others in the distant past. Regardless of where we are, and where we came from, we remain a part of the human family and are called to live in solidarity with each other. National Migration Week reflects on the current circumstances confronting migrants, including immigrants, refugees, children and victims and survivors of human trafficking.

On January 4, we celebrated the Feast Day of the Patron Saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton. The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church sponsored a special meal for the less fortunate in our community. The caring parishioners of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church served the meal and our Chef and his staff prepared it with love! Thank you for providing such a wonderful meal and generous contribution to honor our work!
