WHO IS THE JAZZ INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO?

Founded in 1969 to promote and nurture Jazz in all its forms, the jazz Institute of Chicago continues to shine the light on this vital American art form through education and public programming, includ-ing programming the Chicago Jazz Festival.For over 50 years, the JIC has made jazz happen through our education and public programs. We bring the jazz experience directly to communities through free programs and concerts in venues and schools throughout Chicago. Our programs keep Chicago jazz musicians working through a wide array of performance opportunities and creating a thriving Chicago jazz scene.Your support of the Gala will help support our Jazz Links education programs, allowing us to expand and empower Chicago’s talented students and teachers, preserving Chicago’s rich jazz legacy and investing in its bright future. In these current times of healing and revelation, we remember the important role that music has played in our collective histories, and the power of jazz to harmonize us all . . . from tribulations to celebrations! Jazz has always been here for us. And we will continue to be here for it.The gala features musical performances by Chicago jazz greats, and Jazz Links students and alumni, plus: • Zoom Room small-group experiences (pre-event cocktail-party style gatherings online!) with JIC board members and staff, industry leaders and musician engagements • Presentations of our Jazz Excellence Awards which recognize the valuable contributions made by members of our jazz community. • Student testimonials and performance clips
