PEPERO DAY November 11 in Korea is a “Day” called Pepero Day. On that day, eve- ryone gives and receives Pepero snacks. The long and thin snacks are seen everywhere in Korea such as in the streets, in schools, in markets, etc. Why those snacks on November 11? It’s because their figure looks like 1 and when we write November 11 with the Arabic number it looks like 1111. So if you meet a Korean friend on November 11th, it will be a good idea to give him or her the stick snacks! In Korea, every 14th of the month is a “Day”. Let’s learn some major “Days”. February 14th Valentine’s Day March 14th White Day April 14th Black Day. Done differently in other countries, on Valentine’s Day in Korea, only the girls give chocolate to their boys. However, don’t get disappointed, girls because on White Day, it is the boys who give candies to the girls. For the pitiable singles who didn’t get any chocolate or candies, they will eat jjajang- myun(짜장면). Because the color of jjajangmyun is black, they call the day Black Day. Except for the 14th day of the month, they also have other Days like Samgyupsal Day. It is held every 3rd of March and we eat Samgyupsal(겹살) on that day.. It is derived from the pronunciation of Sam, the first syl- lable of the food’s name, the same as of the Korean number for three which is why the 3rd of March became Samgyupsal Day. The Days are normally commercial but why don’t you remember them for fun? PEPERO DAYNovember 11 in Korea is a “Day”

called Pepero Day. On that day, eve-ryone gives and receives Pepero snacks.

Except for the 14th day of the month, they also have other Days like Samgyupsal Day. It is held every 3rd of March and we eat Samgyupsal(삼겹살) on that day.. It is derived from the pronunciation of Sam, the first syl-lable of the food’s name, the same as of the Korean number for three which is why the 3rd of March became Samgyupsal Day. The Days are normally commercial but why don’t you remember them for fun?
