Symptom

l Not possible to replicate natural persons as vendors to SRM. l Error BBP_BUPA008 is issued when trying to replicate vendors to SRM.

Environment

l From SRM 5.0 and upwards l SAP Basis component 46D and subsequent l SAP Application 40A to 604

 

Cause

l In early versions of SRM it was possible to replicate natural persons as vendors to SRM.  l After the release of SRM 5 there were some changes to how vendors and their addresses are treated in SRM. For example email address of

the supplier became mandatory on the SRM side. l Now since natural persons and their addresses are handled differently in the backend, this could lead to inconsistent data if such a person is replicated to SRM as a vendor. 

l This is why the replication of natural persons is no longer supported since 2006 (please refer to SAP note 916557 also) in the standard SRM design.

Resolution

l A pilot note was created by SAP which enables the replication of natural persons from the backend with a modification of the standard code, it is not delivered in any standard Release / Support Package.

l There are some restrictions however by using this pilot note. Issues appearing by the replication of natural persons for example regarding address data will not be supported in this case.

l Also you need to ensure that each Business Partner (BP) created for a natural person in SRM is consistent data. Meaning, after replicating such a BP you need to edit each BP with the corresponding transaction and verify respectively complete the data of the BP.

l If you are interested in implementing this note you will need to create a message in order to be added as a pilot customer to the pilot note.
