My name is Kate Vinnicombe, I am 25 years old and I am currently completing my third and final year of the Bachelor of Oral Health course at Central Queensland University, Rockhampton. I enrolled in the course after 5+ years employment as a dental assistant and dental receptionist. I am currently looking to commence employment as an Oral Health Therapist from December 2015. I aspire to be part of a practice that advocates a inviting, friendly and patient focused approach.

As my CV outlines, I have approximately 7 years of dental experience in an array of settings as a dental assistant and then as an oral health therapy student. I have enjoyed working for Queensland Health, both general private practitioners and for specialist such as Rockhampton based Orthodontist Dr. Mark Lupton and Gold Coast based Periodontist Dr. Kathleen Bourke and along with children in the public school dental clinics. I have also been lucky enough to be one of the four chosen from my cohort to take part in the volunteering program “Smile Vanuatu” this June. I will be spending 7 days on Norsup Island treating members of the community and delivering Oral Health promotion. I believe this will be both my most challenging and rewarding experience.

I am eager to go above and beyond in order to better myself and improve my knowledge and skills. I will be taking part in the ADA conference in held in Yeppoon later this May. I have volunteered to present at the conference on our involvement as students from CQU in the local nursing homes. I would love to further my learning, continuing to grow professionally and am confident my previous experience and study will benefit your dental team.
