Kate Rose

Kate Rose has lived and worked in various cities in Canada, ��the United States and the United Kingdom. She came to ��costume design by accident. While studying for a Master ��of Fine Arts in theatre at the University of Mississippi, ��Oxford, Kate stumbled into the costume shop, fell in love ��with costume design and its integral role in character ��development and won awards for outstanding design for ��two consecutive years. Back in Canada with plans to return ��to teaching at the university level, Kate’s extraordinary �� talent with watercolour costume renderings unexpectedly ��landed her the plum position of costume designer on EMILY OF NEW MOON, a Victorian mini series based on the novels of Lucy Maude Montgomery and filmed on beautiful Prince Edward Island. Too “green” to be daunted by the task, Kate designed three seasons of EMILY and earned two Gemini award nominations for her efforts.

Since then she has never looked back.

Agnieszka Holland, Robert Markowitz and David Gordon Green are among the talented directors that Kate has worked with. From the Italian Renaissance of THE CONCLAVE to the quirky, retro-contemporary look of the comedy JUST BURIED, Kate’s personal aesthetic has created costumes that visually enhance the film’s final look. Collaboration, visceral instinct and artistic evaluation are the principles that drive Kate on every project.
