Dove and Sparrow AwardsEach year, students and staff vote for seniors and eighth graders who encourage those around them to be Jesus followers. This year‘s senior Dove recipients are: Taryn Nellermoe and Kate Lodewyk. The Sparrow recipients are Emily Stueland and Cole Wyland. Thank you for leading others to Jesus!

The Zachary and Connor Kvalvog Athlete of the Year Award Jared Motschenbacher and Ingrid Swanson were awarded the Zachary and Connor Kvalvog Athlete of the Year award for 2016-2017. This award will continue to be given each year in loving memory of two great teammates, Zach and Connor Kvalvog. Zach and Connor had hearts for the Lord and were ambassadors for Christ. They are greatly missed, but their legacy of hard work and faithfulness will continue be a constant encouragement for us to strive to bring our best to the Lord in all we do.

The PCS 2016 Girls’ Golf team was awarded State Champion Academic team. That means they had the highest cumulative g.p.a. of the entire State tournament. Impressive!

The Mnhsca (Minnesota High School Coaches Association) has awarded the PCS girls’ golf, girls’ basketball, and the girls’ volleyball teams as Gold Level Academic teams. These teams had 3.74 or higher cumulative g.p.a.’s.

Distinguished Christian School Award recipients are in the top 10% for: Academics, Leadership, Fine Arts, Athletics, and Christian Service.

Because of the Lord’s great

love we are not consumed, for

his compassionsnever fail.

They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lauren Knoll was awarded two free trips this summer for continued competition with her project and paper: There Is No Planet B, Aquaponics, Farming of the Future. She was chosen as the 2017 North Dakota Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) state winner. They provided her an all-expense paid trip to attend the national SJWP competition at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, June 16-18.Lauren was also selected as one of ten finalists for the Spellman High Voltage Electronics Clean Tech Competition in Stony Brook University, New York in July where she will compete for a cash prize, a Mentor, and a chance to have her idea patented by the US Patent office. This is an international competition that had over 720 applicants from over 26 countries. We wish Lauren the best in these competitions and look forward to reporting back to our families and supporters about her results. Boys State

Cameron Knoll, 11th grade, attended the ND Boys State program June 11-16 held at NDSCS, Wahpeton. The goal stated on the website for Boys State is to try to establish that our government is not a relic of the past, it has not outrun its usefulness, and it should not be replaced. It is just as firm, just as fair and workable as the day it was founded, and all it needs is a clear understanding of its structure, and a desire, willingness, and determination on the part of its citizens to preserve it.

Scientific Research Students Win Impressive Awards

Park Christian is the only school in the Fargo Moorhead Metro area to offer Independent Scientific Research as an elective class for 9th, 11th, and 12th grade students.

This year, Cheyenne Bailey (11th grade) and Lauren Knoll (9th grade) took the class from Mrs. Rankin and are having impressive results from their projects and papers.

The Minnesota Academy of Science sent congratulations to Cheyenne and Park Christian School. Cheyenne was one of the Top Ten Writers in the 2017 STEM Communicator Awards. In addition to a cash award and medallion, Cheyenne’s paper will be published in the Minnesota Academy of Science Journal of Student Research.

THE PCS IMPACT www.ParkChristianSchool.org Since 1981SERVING FAITHFULLY

Mrs. Isaak (English teacher) and her dad were visiting Chick Fil-A in Maple Grove recently. Her dad was wearing a Park Christian hat. He ended up connecting with a 2006 PCS grad. The alum told him that he loved the school! What a fun connection! Wearing PCS spirit wear makes an impact!
