RedVac products are made 850 meters above sea level in the middle of the Austrian Alps by the experienced and meticulously working Kohlbrat & Bunz staff. People living in the Alps know all too well that products used under the extreme conditions of alpine rescue work have to work perfectly. To meet these rigorous demands RedVac products are developed in close cooperation with the mountain rescue teams. Outstanding quality and construction combined with selection of the best materials enables the RedVac products to perform flawlessly under the most extreme and demanding circumstances. To be able to meet the high standards of the alpine rescuers many innovative solutions were invented:

• Patented Multi-Chamber-System The Multi-Chamber-System keeps the internal polystyrene beads in their correct position and eliminates the need for difficult and time consuming manual spreading of the beads. This enables fast, safe and easy application in all situations, simple handling and lowest possible weight and size for easy transportation and storage.

• Biocompatible exterior material To achieve outstanding durability, abrasion resistance, tightness, easy clean up, comfort and safety for the patient a special biocompatible plastic film was chosen. It makes it possible to use the RedVac products in a wide temperature range, from +80°C down to -40°C.

• Attachment of handles and straps The special properties of the material permitted the design of a unique attachment system for straps and handles. It keeps the bottom side free of straps which otherwise could get tangled up and get stuck in obstacles. This unique system allows the user to freely position straps and handles as needed. It makes them easily removable for cleaning or replacement and eliminates areas that can trap fluids.

• The vacuum valve The valve is easy to use, even when wearing gloves. It closes automatically when suction stops preventing loss of vacuum if slipping with the pump.

• A new “first in the world”, a vacuum immobilisation system for scoop-stretcher and back board The difficulty to immobilise patients on a back board and the pain especially during longer transports are now history. Unlike the familiar head blocs Red Vac’s vacuum head immobiliser contours automatically to the patient’s head without exerting pressure. The body vacuum supports contours to the body and the system keeps the patient perfectly immobilised, warm and comfortable.

The RedVac System

Patented multi chamber system with up to 64 chambers keeps the beads in their right position which allows for quick and easy application also in difficult and confined areas.

Proven, robust valve that can be operated with gloves. Closes automatically when suction stops. No risk of losing vacuum if slipping with the suction pump.

Colour coded straps are adjustable from both sides. Easy to remove for reposition, cleaning or replacement.

Small storage space needed. Mattresses with 88cm width: 80 x 45 x 25 cm.

Optional label with customer logo for easy identification. Maxium size 30 x 20 cm.

Cushioned, heavy duty handles are easy on the hands. Repositioning, cleaning and replacement is easy and quick.

The Body Immobiliser consists of a right and left part. The Multi-Chamber-System keeps the beads in their correct place and allows fast and easy application.

It connects easy and quick to the back board with buckles. One part of the buckle is fitted on the board and one on the immobiliser. Positioning of all straps is free which makes it easy to connect the immobiliser to the back board.

The shoulder flaps prevents the body from moving towards the head and thereby causing pressure on the cervical spine.
