Middle School News  Taco Tuesday a Success at KMS The Kiel Middle School Parent Teacher Partnership hosted its 2nd annual Taco Tuesday on October 3. This year there was a snow cone truck available for an after-dinner treat, a used book sale featuring some great titles and classic treasures, and a raffle for a stay at Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan. 1st place winner was Al Kienbaum and 2nd place winner with a bucket of candy was Brad Ebert. Thanks to those who attended and supported the Kiel Middle School Parent Teacher Partnership. All proceeds go toward supplies, events, and projects for KMS students and staff.    Hurricane Relief Effort We had a final total of 114 boxes and 82 desks that were gathered for our hurricane relief efforts. The Character Counts kids were amazing in both gathering the donations and helping to load. The Houston School District will be receiving our supplies and are very grateful for our support. Just wanted to update you on what the kids accomplished...the entire middle school and staff were amazing with their generosity. Thanks to all who contributed!  Zielanis News  Library At Zielanis, students have classroom responsibilities or jobs. One of the jobs is Library helper. Their job is to return the Library books when their classmates are done reading them.   There were 33,433 books checked out last school year, that's almost 183 books per day. We already have circulated 5,732 books this school year!  Keep Reading! We're Very Proud of You!!  Kindergarten As part of a unit related to labeling and adjectives the Kindergarten classes had the chance this week to visit Heritage Apple Orchard and learn about what it takes to run an orchard. When they returned to Zielan is they all made apple pies and enjoyed their hard work.  High School News Max Feldmann broke the school record for career passing yards last Friday at Two Rivers! Congratulations Max!!

Student Services News Mrs. Andre, school counselor at the middle school, creates a KMS Counseling Corner newsletter for staff and parents. This month’s focus is on providing parents some information on how to talk to their children about the recent events of the week. Here is a link to learn more: October Parent Newsletter - https://www.smore.com/gya0k  FFA News MaKayla Bell, Morgan Fischer, Emily Strains, Paris Lutze, Morgan Jenkins and Sydney Knuth of the Kiel FFA Chapter attended the Wisconsin Association of FFA FIRE Conference, September 30th at Fox Valley Technical College campus in Appleton. FIRE stands for "Foundations in Reaching Excellence". This conference helps young FFA members discover opportunities in the FFA organization and gain valuable leadership skills. This is one of three conferences held around the state of Wisconsin for seventh, eighth, and ninth grade members. Over 600 members will attend these three conferences during the month of October.  Over 20 members from the Kiel FFA chapter hosted the biannual "Day on the Farm" on Friday September 29. Zielanis Elementary kindergarten and first grade students visited Soaring Eagle Dairy and had the opportunity to visit diverse and engaging hands on stations to learn more about the agriculture industry. Senior, Konnor Koenig who brought in her horse noted, "It's a great experience to teach the younger generation about agriculture and all of the opportunities that are involved". Not only does this day educate elementary students but it also teaches our high school students soft skills that are needed long after high school. FFA's mission is to develop members' potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agriculture education.   Have a Great Weekend and GO RAIDERS!!!  Brad   Twitter:@EbertBrad Facebook: @KielAreaSchools
