KARANGA LEATHER INDUSTRIES CO.LTD

Karanga Leather Industries Co Ltd (KLICL) is a joint venture company between the former PPF Pensions Fund current known as Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) and Prisons Corporation Sole (PCS).

The establishment of KLICL is in line with the implementation of the second Five Year Development Plan (FYDP II) aiming at ensuring that Tanzania becomes industrialized (Tanzania ya Viwanda) and middle-income economy by the year 2025.

On 30th May 2017, KLICL was registered under the laws of Tanzania Republic and issued with the certificate of incorporation number 135503.

Main objective of the company is to produce quality shoes and other related products for both Internal and External Markets.

KLICL was established to undertake the development of Leather Industries in Karanga Area, Moshi Municipality.

BACKGROUND

CORE FUNCTIONS i. To produce standard quality (best grade) finished leather of the highest quality for both internal and external markets. ii. To produce quality and affordable shoes and other leather – related products such as handbags, wallets etc. for internal and external markets. iii.To produce highly durable soles for both internal and external markets.

KLICL is currently undertaking two main activities

Phase I: Revamping of the existing Karanga shoes factory (Completed) by the installation of new additional machineries to increase its production capacity from 150 pairs of shoes per day to 400 pairs of shoes per day. Phase II: Construction of a modern Leather tannery, footwear industry, shoes sole processing industry and other related Leather goods processing industry, in Karanga Area, Mosh- Kilimanjaro.

Implementation status of the project: - • Land equivalent to 25 Acres has been allocated by Prisons Sole Corporation for construction of the new factories. The title deed has already been issued in the name of Karanga Leather Industries Co Ltd.

• KLICL will also construct a new and modern set of interrelated factories to produce quality finished leather, footwear, soles and other leather products at a very competitive price.
