Dear Parents and Carers, This week is School Administration and Support Staff recognition week. It is a time where we recognise and acknowledge the important work our SASS staff undertake in schools across NSW. This ranges from support in the office, library, classroom or school grounds, our school knows the work that they do is vital to education. Please join me in thanking the following staff members for all that they do; Julie Minato, Adrian Hill, Carol Woods, Anj Rowley, Susan Salvestrin, Brydie Townsing, Lesley Woodbride, Cassie Stedman, Julie Saraceno, Michelle Russell and Patrick Wiggins. It truly is a team effort here at Kalinda School. Proud and Deadly Awards Kalinda School along with all of the other schools within our Community of Public Schools will be gathering at Griffith High School this Friday 8 th September from 10:30am. There will be performances by Wiradjuri Preschool, Griffith High School and Wade High School. Everyone is invited to come along and celebrate the achievements of the students. PBL – Positive Behaviour for Learning Yesterday our PBL committee met to see where we are up to and where we need to go to next. We have established our school expectations of Respect, Responsibility and Safety. Our next step is to break this down in to what each of these look like and feel like at Kalinda School. This will occur with staff at next week’s Staff Meeting and again with the students. We will ensure there are 3 – 5 rules for each expectation and that they are short, sharp and sweet and specific to our setting. Superhero Day for Muscular Dystrophy: We have had so much fun dressing up as superheroes. Thank you to everyone for your support. Kalinda School raised $33 for Muscular Dystrophy. Well done everyone. TVET Information Session: Josie from TAFE joined us last Thursday to share with the students from Year 9 – 11 options that are available for them next year. All enrolments are due by 22nd September. Unfortunately they will not be able to accept any late enrolments. If you would like more information regarding TAFE options for your child, please see Mrs Heins or Mrs Food or we can direct you to Josie at TAFE. Uniform Shop Orders: Julie is now taking orders for Summer Uniforms. Students will commence wearing Summer uniform from the commencement of Term 4. Please find attached a copy of the uniform order form. Staff leave: This Thursday is Miss Poko’s last day for Term 3. She is taking leave until she returns to Kalinda School to commence Term 4. During this time, Mrs Foord, Mr Clarke and Mrs Leaver will be teaching her class. Miss Poko has been extremely well organised and left all the work to be completed during this time, ready for the teachers and students. We hope you have a wonderful time. Anj is also having some time off as Long Service Leave and Julie Saraceno will be replacing her during her from Monday 18th September through to and including Monday 16th October. Have a lovely break Anj. Author Talk at Griffith City Library: Students and staff are very excited to be going to Griffith City Library on Friday to meet the Author and Illustrator Craig Smith. We thank you for returning permission notes promptly. There will be some students and staff remaining at school and will continue with their educational programs. Fingers crossed the rain stays away and we can have a lovely walk down and back. Story box to Stage: Today permission notes will be sent home for students to attend Griffith Regional Theatre to watch ‘Story box to Stage’. A joint production by students at Griffith Public School and Kalinda School. It would be wonderful to support all of the performing students and watch their production on Thursday 19th October at 11am. Tickets will need to be pre purchased and are $5 each. Permission notes and money is due in to Julie at the office NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER. No late notes or money will be accepted.

Last week Vicki Hutton from LMBR came to Kalinda School to share with us information regarding 4 of the 5 LMBR packages which has changed the way in which schools conduct their administration and financial tasks. We thank Vicki for sharing her wealth of knowledge with us.

Our Respect, Responsibility & Safety Award

was awarded to Joel Stedman.

Brilliant work Joel!
