Partnership

The Big Idea: Both Twitch.tv and labels should agree to a partnership that will benefit both parties from copyright laws.

What’s in it for you?

What’s in it for your audience? Explain why your topic is important or worth discussing. Many streamers/viewers of streamers know that Twitch is growing and will be targeted by labels that have copyrights to the music that is being streamed without their consent. A partnership between the labels and Twitch will cause less troublesome for streamers and viewers. Twitch will grow more while working along side with these labels.

Trust me, I’m a doctor

Why should your audience listen to you? Explain your ethos (credibility). My audience should understand where I am coming from with this information. I know a few things about copyright laws and that they are one of the most well protected laws. I am attending music business classes and copyright laws were one of my classes.

It’s time for an

Adventure

Call to Adventure: Labels will not target Twitch if they were partnered together. Labels will earn more revenue and Twitch will continue to grow.

Preview the three main points that will support your big idea: Raising the awareness about the change that will happen to Twitch with copyright laws and stream rules. 1) Streamers should not play copyrighted music while streaming. 2) If streamers don’t follow the new rules a potential ban will occur 3) Spreading the word about the dangers of copyright infringement.

Taking responsibility

Supporting Point One: Taking responsibility for breaking Twitch’s ToS (Term of Service).

Music

Do not play copyrighted music while streaming. If you want to listen to music, do not make it hearable on stream.

Story time!

No one that I know has been banned yet for streaming copyrighted music. But recently a streamer by the name of “Towelliee” has gotten banned for illegal raffle through Twitch. Rules about raffles on Twitch have changed and now everyone is all right with it.

Supporting Point Two: I choose not to personally play copyrighted music while streaming.

Twitch users now need to be more vigilant about the music they play while making gameplay videos (Factual evidence from polygon.com).

We’re helping!

Twitch says it’s “voluntarily undertaking this effort to help protect both our broadcasters and copyright owners.” (Factual evidence from polygon.com).

Supporting Point Three: Speaking with streamers, Twitch employees or viewers about copyright laws and the risks these streamers are taking by playing copyrighted music.

Be

Aware

The awareness of copyright laws will decrease the chances of streamers getting banned or in trouble for copyright law.

This streamer on Twitch called “Lirik” talked to his viewers about copyright laws and the growth of Twitch. Twitch is growing and needs to do these things to prevent lawsuits.

Call to Action: Talk to viewers on a stream about the dangers of someone breaking copyright laws.

Summarize the main points: Raising awareness about copyright laws and how Twitch changes are necessary. 1) Taking responsibility for breaking Twitch’s ToS (Term of Service). 2) I choose not to personally play copyrighted music while streaming. 3) Speaking with streamers, Twitch employees or viewers about copyright laws and the risks these streamers are taking by playing copyrighted music.

Clincher/new bliss: Telling a few viewers a day about the dangers of copyright infringement. How Twitch needs this change in order to grow more and to protect themselves from copyright laws. How a partnership between Twitch and labels will benefit both of them.
