MIM CurriculumThe goal of the MIM program is to develop your ability to recognize and realize opportunities to use information and technology to improve organizations.

The MIM curriculum achieves this goal by providing you with:

•Broad knowledge of the technologies, design approaches, and management techniques for addressing information management problems (Core Courses, 15 credits)

•Internship and project-based learning experiences in which you integrate theory and practice to solve real-world information management problems (Internship and Capstone project, 6 credits)

MIM Program Offerings

The MIM program is available in a variety of formats, locations, and schedules.

You can complete the MIM as a Full Time UMD student in:

• 21 months (3 courses/semester + internship)• 18 months (3-4 courses/semester + internship)

You can enroll as a Part Time student and complete the MIM in:

• 24 months (2 courses/semester + internship “in place”)• Extended enrollment (1-2 courses/semester + internship “in place”)

MIM Program “Locations”

MIM courses are offered at two campuses and online. This provides you with access to the same course content and high-quality instructors in venues and locations that best meet your needs.

Each of these offerings involves the same courses, the same requirements, and the same faculty – but in different forms and venues.

MIM @ College ParkOn UMDs College Park campus, the iSchool is located in the Hornbake Building, which also houses the UMD Career Center and the iSchool research centers.

iSchool classrooms, research labs, and faculty offices are near the center of campus, close to parking, mass transit, and the Stamp Student Union.

College Park campus proximity to Washington DC allows MIM students enrolled there to benefit from the numerous professional development groups, events, and activities taking place there on a regular basis.

MIM @ Shady GroveThe Shady Grove campus is located in the Interstate 270 corridor in Rockville, Maryland. It is easily accessible from I-270, the Intercounty Connector, and the Capital Beltway, making it convenient for students who live and work in Northern Virginia, Frederick, and throughout the Washington DC, metropolitan area.

The Universities at Shady Grove offer state-of-the-art facilities, shuttles to and from College Park, and free parking.

Its location in the I-270 corridor gives students access to internship, employment, and professional development opportunities in one of Maryland’s fastest-growing areas.

The MIM Online program is a cohort-based, structured offering of the MIM degree designed to provide you with access to the MIM experience wherever you live.

If you enroll in the MIM Online you will:

•Take two classes each semester (fall/spring/summer), completing the MIM program in two years with a specialization in Data Analytics.

•Complete a series of activities designed to facilitate your successful completion of the MIM program and encourage your development as a high-impact information professional.
