““Tourism and Hospitality in Vietnam: t More Quality, not Quantity”
Kai is a German national, born in Berlin on the 20 November 1967.
A ‘full blood’ hotelier and tourism professional, he looks back on more
than 22 exciting years within the industry. Kai held various managerial
positions with international hotel brands InterContinental and Holiday Inn
and had the pleasure of working in countries around the world. In Vietnam
since 1998, Kai took on roles as General Manager of luxury hotel and
tourism enterprises. Since 2007, he is the CEO of HTM Management
Consultancy, a boutique hospitality and tourism management advisory
firm, providing professional services for projects in Vietnam, Laos and
Cambodia. Kai graduated from Hotel Management School Berlin, gained
additional qualifications from renowned Cornell University – School of
Hotel Administration and is currently pursuing his Master of Hospitality
Management with the University of Toulouse le Mirail.
An outspoken, but nevertheless constructive critic and strong supporter of
the tourism and hospitality development in Vietnam, Kai provided
strategic advice to industry leaders and tourism authorities. He has been
invited as speaker and lecturer of industry topics on various occasions. In
2006, Kai chaired the Tourism Working Group of the EuroCham in Hanoi
and has recently been the driving force behind the new Tourism and
Hospitality Sector Committee. Being a permanent resident, having
developed an in-depth understanding and an extensive network, Kai would
like to form a strong and consistent advocacy group for the tourism and
hospitality sector in the country. He endeavors to bring different
EuroCham members and stakeholders of the industry together at one
table, thus contributing to a sustainable tourism development as well as
creating more favorable conditions for the sector’s businesses in Vietnam.
Kai lives with his Vietnamese wife and two children in Hanoi.
