Located in the upper northwest of the South Island, there’s nowhere else in the world where you’ll find three spectacular New Zealand national parks with glistening golden sand beaches and turquoise crystal clear waters, alongside alpine meadows, snowy mountain ranges, and some of the oldest marble karst landscape and spectacular native forests. The region has an enviable Mediterranean and sunny climate that allows visitors to explore and enjoy all year round.

TO NELSON TASMANwelcome

Abel Tasman National Park and Kahurangi National Park are the backdrops to two of NZ’s ‘Great Walks’, the Abel Tasman Coastal Track and the Heaphy Track. Boutique wines, craft breweries, seafood and fresh, organic local produce are our speciality. Nelson Tasman is the creative arts capital of New Zealand with more than 300 working artists and galleries. We have some of the country’s best luxury lodges, hotels, motels, holiday parks and bed & breakfast accommodation and a strong cluster of unique conference venues. The accommodation and conference sectors are proudly supported by an extensive range of amazing activity and attraction operators which compel one to take advantage of the exceptional outdoor playground we have, whether here on business or for play.

Tourism in Nelson Tasman is fundamental to our community – Kiwis have been holidaying here for years: drawn by the diverse

natural beauty and laidback lifestyle. Our international visitors come mainly from Australia, UK, Germany, Europe and North America and increasingly from South East Asia, China, India and South America. The Nelson Tasman region caters well for groups and visitors who are independent travellers.

The Nelson Tasman Tourism team is the first point of contact when finding out about what the region has to offer. You can contact the Nelson Tasman Tourism team for more details.

The Abel Tasman National Park is New Zealand’s only coastal national park and includes one of the Department of Conservation’s ‘Great Walks’. The sheltered bays are popular for cruising, sailing and sea kayaking. On land, the 52km Abel Tasman Coastal Track follows the coastline through lush native bush, along limestone cliffs and along golden sand beaches.

Located at the southern end of the Abel Tasman National Park, Kaiteriteri and Marahau are both gateways to the park. Kaiteriteri is renowned for its stunning golden sands and blue-green waters and Marahau has a lovely beach and vast tidal estuary. Both offer a range of accommodation options including a motor camp and motels. Enjoy a meal at one of the local cafes as you plan, or reminisce about, your time in this spectacular region.

Awesome activities, world famous scenery - get amongst it!

Visitors are attracted to the Nelson Tasman region for the lifestyle. They enjoy its diverse coastal and alpine environment, phenomenal creativity and great food, wine and beer.

The region’s most popular tourism activities are based around our three spectacular national parks. These include fly fishing, kayaking, sailing and cruising, and some of New Zealand’s best hiking, tramping, mountain biking and recreational cycling. Visitors can

explore the hills surrounding Nelson by quad-bike or mountain bike or venture out into the countryside on Tasman’s Great Taste Trail and explore the myriad of vineyards and craft breweries. Tours of galleries and the studios of talented artists help to provide an intimate

experience, engaging with the lifeblood of this creative community. The Nelson Tasman region has a broad range of commissionable activities which we are delighted to share with the travel trade.
