Kia ora te whanau,
Welcome to the fourth and final term of the year. I’m not sure the time has gone but it seems to be flying by. As you know there is always a lot on in term 4 so we have included key dates below. Please remember to add them to your calendar.
We want to thank those who have remembered their sunhats. We know the weather can be very variable during October and November but they are important to have here at school. We also ask that you remind your child/ren to put sunscreen on, especially to reapply on sunny days. We always have some outside the office.

Production Feedback We were so proud of our tamariki and their amazing performance in Kiri’s Adventures! It was fantastic to see the joy in effort that all of our students got from dancing, singing, creating (props and costumes) and working together as a team. It is also important to acknowledge all of the wonderfulness of our staff and whānau. We couldn’t have done it without you!
We will have a private video link to share with you of the show so that you can share it with your whānau, especially those who couldn’t attend any of the shows. If you want to provide feedback we have got a short survey

It’s Disco time this Friday
The low down:
5.30 - 7.30pm on Friday 16th October in the SWIS hall.
Bring your coins: entry is gold coin donation and there will be sausages, drinks and baking for sale.
The theme is favourite character - the kids can dress up however they want to according to how they think about the theme, be that a character from a book or film.
Every child needs to have a responsible adult there for the event.
Bring along a named drink bottle, the kids get thirsty and it helps save on plastic cups.
Please drop off any baking to the school hall kitchen on Friday or bring it to the disco itself.
Please contact Jo Sanders [email protected] if you would be able to help. We need people for setting up, collecting koha, selling baking, doing the barbeque, keeping an eye on the outside playground area and cleaning up at the end.
Did you miss out on making a calendar order? It’s not too late.
We have opened up a repeat order which runs from 14th - 26th October. If you have lost your details get in touch with Megan at [email protected] and she can help you out.
Raising Resilient Children: HVS community education seminar by Kathryn Berkett on 21 October, 7.30-9pm
Kathryn Berkett is an educational psychologist and highly successful presenter on managing behaviour. She has led the teaching team at HVS in the development of its ‘Zones of Regulation’ programme designed to support our children to learn about regulating their own behaviour. You can take tools from school right into your home. Following the strong interest from the school community to hearing about topics relevant to parenting and families and the high praise from the school teaching team about Kathryn’s effectiveness, Home and School is sponsoring this event.
