1 Area of applicationThe 3-language engine type plate is for use on all GE Distributed Power engines engines from Jenbach.

The English-language module type plate is for use on all GE Distributed Power generating sets, modules andcontainers from Jenbach.

Type plates are to be used in all countries (languages). The translation of the type plate into the user's languageis given in the customer-specific Description – Operation Manual.

If the order specifies a different language for the type plate (customer request), the type plate (in the requestedlanguage) must be taken into account in the design and included in the design documents.

3 Engine type plate

NOTEAlways affix engine type plates directly on to the crankcase!Crankcase covers or similar can be easily removed, and the type plate can be easily lost thatway.




Type 2 engines:

Affix 1 engine type plate at the end.

Type 3 engines:

Affix 1 engine type plate to the crankcase.

4 Generating set type plate

4.2 AffixingGenerally, only the English module type plate as per ISO 8258 (with the type description and manufacturer'saddress) is still used.

5 Additional type plates

5.1 Additional engine plateFor repairs and overhauls, not for new plants.

5.1.1 Illustration

5.1.2 Affixing

Additional type plates should always be affixed as close as possible alongside the engine type plate.




Type 2 engines:

Affix 1 additional type plate to the crankcase cover.

Type 3 engines:

Affix 1 additional type plate to the crankcase. (Behindthe oil filters)

Type 4 engines:

Affix 1 additional type plate to the crankcase.

6 Examples:Valid for repairs and overhauls, not for new plants.

6.1 Basics• Old serial numbers may only be issue if the original was previously under the control of GE Distributed

Power (duplicate guarantee). Furthermore, no data concerning power output, emissions or versions may bechanged.

• If the type plate is missing when equipment is returned, the suffix "Duplicate" must be used.

• CE certifications refer to the type, serial number and year of manufacture of the module type plate. Thesevalues must always be given as specified by the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC -> in the event of a newmodule number, a new E certificate must be requested from the documentation department.

• Weight data on the engine type plate is to be taken from the order overview (values for the plant as new).

• Weight data on the module type plate must correspond to the dry module weight (check the type oldplate or the module drawing)

• Module type plates may only be replaced (GS at Jenbach) if faulty, illegible or if there are changes in poweroutput or plant installation site (new J number).

• Information such as speed, power output, frequency, voltage etc. are to be given by O&R in the orderoverview.

• No "R" is given for replacement parts on additional type plates.

• If the old serial number is given on the engine type plate, the additional type plate must also state the oldnumber (⑭) as well as the new number (⑲)

• Fields ⑮ to ⑱ remain blank in the case of emergency short blocks (EMB).

6.2 Overhaul

New engine

The original product is replaced by a new engine.

• Speed (⑤), 1500 rpm or 1800 rpm depending on the application

• Maximum engine weight (⑥) according to order overview

Overhauled ex-stock generating set

An overhauled ex-stock generating set is commissioned at a new location.

Relevance: Generating set (GS)




Special release by the repair shop leader or O&R necessary.

Ask the documentation department (TPD) for a new CE certificate.

• Enter the engine type (①) (e.g. J 312 GS)

• New engine number (②) (e.g. 1234567)




• Year of manufacture (⑦) left blank

• Enter the type (⑨) (e.g. JGS 312 GS-N.L)

• New serial number (⑩) (e.g. 1234567)

• Enter the year of manufacture (⑪) with an asterisk (e.g. 2016*)

• Electrical power (⑫) according to order overview

• J-number (e.g. J P123) in in the supplementary field (⑬)

• "*Refurbished" remark in the supplementary field (⑬)

Overhauled replacement engine

The original product is replaced by an overhauled product. The replacement is carried out on site (EMB, SB, LB)or in Jenbach (GS).

The original product will be delivered to Jenbach and replaced by an overhauled ex-stock product. The oldserial number must be retained due to local regulations.

Important: The original engine must be in the control of GE Distributed Power (no duplicate).
