I am studying Elementary Education with minors in Reading and TESOL. I miss my Emanuel family while in Ypsilanti, but have found a church I enjoy attending every Sunday. It is that time again, trading shorts and bathing suits for backpacks and school supplies. School is starting, which means Confirmation and Youth Group Activities follow closely behind. This Sunday, September 9th at Emanuel Lutheran we will be having a kick off potluck to start the school year off right. We want all 6th-12th graders and parents to attend. Bring a dish to pass; dessert & drinks will be provided. Please call Megan (231 -690-0301) with any questions. An agenda is as follows.... 4:30 pm—Confirmands and Parents should arrive (7th-8th graders or older students participating in Confirmation for the 2018-19 year). We will have a short meeting to explain curriculum, classroom structure, introduce teachers, state expectations and answer questions. 5:00 pm—Pot Luck-all additional 6th - 12th grade families arrive and start to eat! 5:20 pm—Summer Mission Trip 2019—Lets get excited!! Megan will again be coordinating a mission camp trip. Looking for date suggestions, chaperones, deciding how far we want to travel and talking fundraising. Come with ideas or suggestions of ways to raise money. I like a limit of 3 ways to raise funds. 5:50 pm—Youth Service: Pastor will lead the discussion. We are looking for direction and support in starting a youth-centered service. What would that look like? When should it occur? Who needs to be involved? 6:10pm—Youth Group/Activities—Looking for a few people to help organize a youth outing during the school year. (Come with ideas.) Megan will also pass out sign-up sheets for dinner hosts for the first half of the year. Lights, Camera, Action...Sunday School will resume at 9:00 AM on Sunday, September 16th. We have some exciting things planned for the 2018-19 school year. Stay posted for details!

As Fall approaches, so does the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” at Waterfront Park. We will walk on Saturday, September 15th (10:30 am). Registration at

9:30; Welcoming Ceremony at 10:15, and WALK begins at 10:30. I invite you to join my team “THE VIOLETS”, or form your own team, or WALK as an individual (all checks should be made to Alzheimer’s Association with the team name in the memo line).
