BEGIN WITH A VISION
Frank Sherman Land | Founder, DeMolay International
A hundred years from now it will not matter what my
bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the
kind of car I drove. But the world may be different,
because I was important in the life of a boy.
“ “What will your legacy be?

Build Your Circle
You can’t do it alone. You need a team to augment your vision and share their own. Focus your search on the following criteria:
Trust • Drive • Passion • Education
Recruit key individuals to join your inner circle.
Executive Officers’ Conference | Friday, March 2, 2018 6
Brainstorm for the FutureDecide with your team what your Utopian Jurisdiction looks like.
Involve Your Inner CircleInvolving your inner circle in the brainstorming process is critical to secure the buy-in of your vision from them as well as sharing their visions.
Listen With IntentA critical component of the brainstorming process is to allow your team to emote their desires. They may mention concerns from the field you didn’t think or know existed.
Document EverythingThere are no bad ideas during the brainstorming process. Document all ideas regardless of personal opinion. Then, attack and mold each idea until you have created your mission.
SWOT METHODSTRENGTHS • WEAKNESSES • OPPORTUNITIES • THREATS

Create Your RoadmapFrom short term to long term, your roadmap includes your team’s goals derived from brainstorming.
<1
3+1-3
< 1 YearTackle the “low-hanging fruit.” Earn your small victories quickly and show the field that your team is ready, willing and able to act.
1 - 3 YearsBegin your plans now for deeper programs you want to implement in your Jurisdiction. Be mindful of the setup so the implementation is sound.
3+ YearsFor your long-term planning goals, be sure to always have your vision in the forefront of your mind and find the appropriate talent to take this vision and make it a reality in the long term.
Executive Officers’ Conference | Friday, March 2, 2018 8
Dynamically Involve OthersSurround your inner circle with dedicated resources in four critical areas.

Geographical ResourcesProvide representation on your
behalf in various capacities where
service is rendered within
geographic parameters.
[District Governors]
Advisory ResourcesSecure the commitment and trust of
key advisory resources to assist you in special circumstances.

RESEARCH
Empower your team to develop
clearly defined goals based on research derived from the field.
DESIGN COMMUNICATE ANALYSIS
As goals are established, your team
should now be prepared to design the particular action plan.
Once the action plan has been
created, it must be communicated to the field clearly and concisely.
Perform an analysis during and after
the implementation of the plan to retool for the future.
Creating Your Action PlanYour action plan must be ever-evolving and should always include these critical components.
