Ancient astronomers discovered Jupiter, but Galileo
was credited for the discovery of Jupiter.
Jupiter is the fourth brightest thing in the night
sky, so ancient astronomers used their knowledge
based off of that.
DISTANCE FROM THE SUN
It is the fifth planet in our Solar System
Perihelion: 740,742,598 km or 4.951 558 43 AU
Aphelion: 816,081,455 km or 5.455 167 59 AU
JUPITER’S ORBIT
It takes 11.86 years for Jupiter to orbit the sun.
(4,332 days).
A DAY ON JUPITER
A day on Jupiter lasts about 9 hours and 55
minutes. (About 10 hours.)
APPEARANCE
When you look at Jupiter, you see lots of beige
colors, along with some red and orange. It is very
cloudy, and its rings are hard to see.
It does not have any life that we know of.
MOONS AND RINGS
Jupiter has 66 named moons.
Jupiter has 4 known rings.
SURFACE
Jupiter has many poisonous clouds, a strong
gravitational pull, lots of gas clouds, and its famous
“Red Spot”. Its composition it a bit of a mystery, but
its core is most likely very dense and metallic.
