Sustainable Food & Farming: TEDx

Saturday, March 1 (4-8 credits)

TEDxManhattan, “Changing the Way We Eat,” is a one-day conference featuring a dynamic

and diverse group of speakers (including Tom Colicchio, head judge for "Top Chef") addressing issues in the sustainable food and farming movement. Participants need not attend the entire event; feel free to drop in when you are able.

Join League members, their guests, community students and leaders in the Nutrition and Dietetics field as we view and discuss the live streaming event at FoodWorks in North Chattanooga. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. - about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1.

There is no charge for this program. Participants will have access to order brunch items from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and the dinner menu after 3 p.m. JLC is co-sponsoring the event with the UTC Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Active Credits: 8 credits for 6+ hours attendance; 4 credits for 3-5 hours attendance (3-hour minimum to obtain 4 credits)

Education & Training is gearing up for a very busy March and April to finish the League year with a bang! On Saturday, March 1, we will be partnering with UTC’s Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for TEDx Manhattan’s “Changing the Way We Eat” video conference. Limited seating; please register through the JLC volunteer calendar quickly!

New to Slate? We will be offering a few License to Lead sessions for League members new to leadership positions. Our first session will take place on Monday, March 3 at 6:00, just before the March GMM. We will be offering additional sessions through the end of April as well.

A popular E&T session from last year has returned, and we are offering another Introduction to Digital Photography with Billy Weeks March 22, 9 a.m. -noon. For $30 and 4 credits, this award-winning photographer and UTC professor will share the basics of photo composition--including the rule of thirds, depth of field, point of view, leading lines and negative space--that will take your pictures to the next level. Already have a good understanding of photography and want to learn more? On April 5, Billy will be back for an Advanced Training!
