We are so glad that you came to visit The Rock. Make yourself feel right at home. This is a place that you can come as you are and learn what God has in store for your life. After all, God is always doing something
in your life; it is whether or not you have your eyes open to Him working. That is what we want to discover together as we focus on learning how to “love God and love others.” If you have any questions, please ask one of the youth sponsors or myself.

James 1:19-27 19. My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20. for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. 22. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive your-selves. Do what it says. 23. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24. and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but do-ing it--he will be blessed in what he does. 26. If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by
the world.
A TRUE CHRISTIAN CONTROLS HIS SPEECH
James 3:1-127. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8. but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s like-ness. 10. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
Ephesians 4:2929. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up accord-ing to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
DO NOT DECEIVE YOURSELF
Galatians 6:6-86. Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. 7. Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
DO TAKE CARE OF THE ORPHANS & WIDOWS
Deuteronomy 10:1818. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.
John 14:1818. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
DO NOT CONFORM TO THIS WORLD
Romans 12:1-21. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. 2. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
