  • Building Reconstruction Update:

By June 9: The Judson Room and narthex area should be ready to use for Vacation Bible School! New flooring and paint-

ing is nearly complete. Glass panels complete the wall to enclose the Judson Room. The kitchenette has a fresh coat of

paint, also. (Thank you, Wendy Wheeler!)

Celebrate 160 Years Together on June 14

Have you noticed the nice big paper tree in the Christian Education hallway? Its a

Celebration Tree. If you havent had a chance to add your Why I Love FBC leaf to

the tree, now is your chance! We will be using the leaves at a special worship service

    on June 14.

Also...later that same day, we will celebrate the 160th birthday of First Baptist Church

at Centennial Park immediately following Sunday school. Bring 1-2 sides dishes. Main

dish, tableware, birthday cake, and drinks will be provided. Dust off your ice cream

freezer and bring a batch of homemade ice cream to share!!

There will be fun and games for "kids" of all ages!

Join us on June 14 at 9:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. to Recognize and Remember

what has made First Baptist great!

    Center.

    Attention Musicians!

A music leader is needed for the ABGirls weekend camp,

July 10-12, at Cross Wind Conference Center, Hesston,

KS. Myra Snedeker (Cheryl Harader's sister) is director.

Her co-director-music leader accepted a new job and

can't be present now, so Myra is looking for someone to

lead 3rd graders - 12th graders in music for the weekend.

If you are interested, contact Cheryl at the church, or call

    Myra at 316-644-9726. Thank you.

    Return of the Communicators!

A few years ago, a group within the church called the Com-

municators met once a month. They were led by Hazel

Nitcher and Marj King. The attendance varied from 12 to

16, and was not necessarily the same people every time.

Their purpose was simply to visit with one another, and

there was no set program nor plan to hold a Bible study.

Instead, they opened and closed with prayer, and in be-

tween, simply held a conversation. The goal was not to

complain or gossip, but to discuss life and the questions of

    life:

What did you do for summer vacation?

    How do you celebrate holidays?

Why are some men bald and others are not?!?

Would you like to participate if the Communicators group

were to begin meeting again? If so, please contact Annie

Merriam at 841-1384. Dear loved ones,

My first week as a volunteer at Deb-

orah House, Tijuana Mexico went very

well. I had a few counseling sessions

with the women. I spent time with the

children, playing with them. I have

    been teaching the children Mateo

(Matthew) 19:14 in Spanish. My Span-

ish is improvingI might not be able

to speak English when I get back to

    the states!

God is at work here at Deborah house. I hope the Holy

Spirit will continue to guide me. My 5 weeks at DH will be

a blessing to these beautiful children and women. Thank

you so much for your prayers!

    Greetings to you all!

    Blessings, Dezo
