LAGNIAPPE Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

June 28, 2015

VBSVBSVBS

Dear Friends,

As you may have noticed steel is coming out the ground! The foundation for the gymnasium is ready for the steel infrastructure which is starting to rise. Here we go.

Pope Francis released his second letter to the Church last week on the Environment. While I have not completed my reading, I encourage you to read it for yourself. Sometimes we let summaries by others provide us with what the author can say for him or herself.

The Christ Renews His Parish Men’s Retreat team has been meeting for weeks in preparation for the annual Men’s Retreat to be held the weekend of August 29-30th on campus. This enriching experience of faith and prayer for men brings the urgent call to conversion for the men who participate, letting the Gospel inspire them to be faithful. Watch for registration details to come.

Seminarian Carlos Lucito and I attended a Knights ofColumbus Vocations Supper in his home parish of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Opelousas. If you remember Carlos’ vocation story, his calling to consider Priesthood occurred during his time at Christ the King at LSU. His home parish supports his vocation and, like us, are grateful that he is exploring this call.

This past week a large number of parishioners Attended the Diocesan Parish Assessment held at St Jean Vianney. During this summer, every parish in the diocese will hold the same kind of assessment. The Diocesan Pastoral Planning Committee is attempting to get a read on how the parishes are doing, their level of vitality, and how priestly ministerial service will be provided to parishes and regions in our diocese. Big issues for us all to think about. The amount of information gained from these kinds of assessments are very helpful for our parish today and into the future. I will let you know the results once I receive them in the future.

I hope you enjoy this week. We will gather for Mass on July 4 at 8:30am. Come and give thanks……

Love,

REMEMBER ST. JEAN VIANNEY PARISH IN YOUR WILL

If this parish has meaning to you and your family, then please consider remembering St. Jean Vianney Parish in your will. Call Fr. Tom for information. (753.7950)

VOCATION The measure that you measure with will be measured back to you. If you think you may be called to serve Jesus as a priest, deacon or in the consecrated life, consider the measure of God’s mercy you will give and receive, call or email Father Matt Dupré at 225.336.8778, [email protected], or visit, www.diobr.org/vocations

ADORATION “NOT JUST ANOTHER MEETING”

All are invited on Tuesdays to continue their worship and love of God at adoration. It is a visit, not a meeting. A visit of ‘love to love’. Bring whatever is in your heart and soul and leave it at the feet of the Lord for HE will be at yours. “Adoration for the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth”. -Mother Theresa Join us every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm for Eucharistic Adoration. Taking special time with our Lord is a great way to grow closer to Him.

Do you have too much going on?

Do you feel pulled in a million directions?

You’re not the only one!

Come to the Seekers’ Retreat retreat created just for people in their 20s and 30s and explore what’s im-portant in your life, what you are looking for, and where God fits in.
