JUNE 27, 2017 THE CHURCH VISITOR I Will, I Will, I Will We began our new sermon series this past Sunday and I hope it will inspire all of us to do more for God’s glory. As I men<oned, the book I Will is the next book in a series by Thom Rainer, and it moves us forward in our level of commitment to God’s church and its work. But to become an I WILL member we have to have an I WILL frame of mind, and I shared three aEributes we need to have. Be Biblically directed (as individuals and as The Body) What we do needs to be a natural ouHlow of God’s love in our lives Experience an overflow of joy If any of these aLtudes are lacking, we may want to reconsider what we are doing and why we are doing it. As we go through this series, let us think about how we can each become more an I Will member because of what Christ has done for us. Let us think about Paul’s wri<ng in 2 Corinthians when he says about Jesus that “He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” Copies of the book I Will, by Thom Rainer, will be available as soon as they come in if you would like to read the whole book. Thank you, Charlene Cox

JULY CALENDAR

Let Us PrayWe have started meeting on each Thursday at 1:30 to pray for our Pastor, deacons and elders, as well as our church body.

“The only leader in history who didn’t need others to pray for Him was Jesus. He prayed for Himself, and when God intercedes no one else is necessary. But everyone can benefit from a prayer partner ministry. A pastor who has others praying for him has the potential to go farther than he could ever go alone.”

“When a group of people lift up their church and partners with their leader in prayer, incredible things happen. The Bible is filled with examples of what occurs when people team together. For example, in Matthew 18:19-20, Jesus said, ‘again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree with anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. What an incredible promise — it assures us that there is power in corporate prayer. And as the number of people who pray increases, so does the power of their prayer.”

The above quotes are from “Partners in Prayer” by John Maxwell.

We have heard the plea from the pulpit this past Sunday to “please pray for me”. We are passionate about prayer and its power. We invite you to join us in prayer each week. Time and day can be changed to fit everyone’s schedule who wants to join us. God has a plan for His church — “come near to God and he will come near to you” (James 4:8).

“As a church, we have our flaws, but, frankly, that’s what the church is all about. We’re a gathering place for the sick. And when all people—Christian or not—are honest with ourselves, we have to conclude we aren’t in control. None of us. So when people say, ‘Christians are a bunch of hypocrites,’ we need to show love with GENUINE HUMILITY and admit that, yes, we are indeed flawed.”

“It is so easy at times to think of the elements of Christian body life in Acts 2:42 and following as essential tasks to be done together. But do not lose sight of a foundational point here: Relationships and community provided the framework for all of these activities. God designed us to live out our lives together, not in an individual, independent pursuit. From the beginning of the move of God’s Spirit upon all of His people, the Christian life was primarily a We-process, where individuals found their fit within the body of Christ.”

Weekly Scripture Memory Verse for Sunday, July 2

9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people,[a] in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

I Peter 2:9 (NRSV Translation)

To ALL the sweet ladies who make the hear t pillows,

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful work. The heart pillow I

received while at Dr. Brian’s office was my “security blanket.” It gave me many hours of comfort. Just wanted you to know you’re appreciated.

Sincerely,Donna Burch

Ezekiel 33:7-9 The Message

(MSG) 7-9 “You, son of man, are the watchman. I’ve made you a

watchman for Israel. The minute you hear a message from me, warn them. If I say to the wicked, ‘Wicked man, wicked woman, you’re on the fast track to death!’ and you don’t speak up and warn the wicked to change their ways, the wicked will die unwarned in their sins and I’ll hold you responsible for their bloodshed. But if you warn the wicked to change their ways and they don’t do it, they’ll die in their sins well-warned and at least you will have saved your own life.”

2017 Vacation Bible

SchoolMission:Possible VBS 2017 concluded on Thursday, June 22, with a graduation ceremony for 20 cadets-in-training that earned their credentials as Special Agents for the One, True God. The cadets participated in five days of fun-filled learning through Bible study, learning lab experiments, field training games, cool, classified crafts, delicious top secret snacks, mission music and agent assemblies. The cadets gave generously through a nightly offering of staple food items for the NEED pantry shelves.

Many hearts and hands were busy at work long before the week of VBS and certainly during the week of VBS. It would be a daunting task to provide this week long experience without the help of so many committed people. To each and everyone who supported this program through prayer or gifts of time, talent and treasure, we say thank you for truly making it MISSION:POSSIBLE! Working together in Christ, Monica and Terri
