Welcome

But for me it is good to be near God. — Psalm 73:28

We have no greater privilege than to draw near to God. We come to him through the merit of Christ crucified. We come by the power of the Holy Spirit. And we come with God’s promise that he will draw near to us (James 4:8).

If your faith has not yet come to rest in Christ, and if God is awakening in your heart a desire to take the next step, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact the pastor or speak to him as you leave the sanctuary. A husband and wife team will also be available at the front of the sanctuary following the service to speak with anyone interested in exploring what it means to know Jesus Christ or to join this church.

May our gracious Lord draw near to you wonderfully in this service today.

Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A. That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a waythat not a hair can fall from my headwithout the will of my Father in heaven:in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.Because I belong to him,Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life.and makes me wholeheartedly willing and readyfrom now on to live for him.

The Personal Confession of Sin

6

The Corporate Confession of Sin (Please kneel)

Almighty and most merciful Father,we are thankful that your mercy is

higher than the heavens, wider than our wanderings, deeper than all our sin.

Forgive us forour frivolous attitude towards life, our callousness towards suffering, our envy of those who have more than we have, our obsession with creating a life of constant pleasure, our indifference to the treasures of heaven, our neglect of your wise and gracious law.

Help us change our way of life so that we maydesire what is good, love what you love, anddo what you command.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:8-12

† The Gloria .....................................................................................................Greatorex

† The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer (Please stand)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come.Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread,And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Say, who are you that are afraid of a man that shall die,and forgets the Lord your Maker, who stretched forth the heavensand laid the earth’s foundations?”
