Creating the Ownership Mindset

Leadership training is an important aspect that is sometimes overlooked for more technical opportunities. The Institute feels this is a good time for this training as leadership is more important than ever during these trying times. The focus of this training is on creating a mindset of personal ownership to optimize the results each leader produces both personally and professionally. Utilization of the owner/victim distinction to illuminate the profound difference between reacting to circumstances (the victim mindset) vs. creating your circumstances (the ownership mindset) and the effect each has on one’s performance will be the focus of the class. Participants will experience gains in effective communication, integrity, accountability and collaboration. It is a fun, interactive and highly motivational presentation that will provide participants with tools to create powerful results as leaders within their organizations.

The class will be presented by Todd Musselman, Founder, Timberline Management. Todd is a powerful and effective leader who combines his background as a business owner, sales representative, and professional musician to produce strong, measureable results in the fields of organizational training, motivational speaking and executive/life coaching. It has been Todd’s experience that the primary determinate of performance is an individual’s mindset.

Mine RescueThe Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute is proud to present the 25th Annual Mine Rescue Safety Training & Evaluation during the 112th Conference and Annual Meeting. David Evans, Westmoreland Coal Company and Cheryl Evans, EMR Health & Safety, co-chair the event. Approximately 120 mine rescue participants are trained in various classes and simulated scenarios to take back important safety information to their respective operations. The Awards Breakfast on Tuesday morning is open to participants with an All Inclusive (A) Package, or you may purchase a separate ticket to attend. 34th Annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon Monday, June 27, 2016

A highlight of the conference is the scholarship award luncheon where eight deserving students are presented their scholarship award and given the opportunity to speak to the group about what the scholarship means to them. This is one of the most rewarding programs of the Institute. Our Scholarship Co-Chairmen, Curtis Belden and Bob Burnham interview each student that submitted an application to narrow it down to our eight Engineering/Geological awards ($5,500 over two years) and eight technical school awards ($1,000 each toward technical training). To date, RMCMI has given $758,000 in scholarship awards. We also thank Tom and Pam

Durham, Patron Chairs, for their efforts in soliciting donations. Please plan on participating in the silent and live auctions, which help provide proceeds to fund the scholarship and the student travel to the conference. It has become a fun addition to our meeting, and a way to help a deserving student. Please donate an item and make a purchase!

Life MemberEach year the RMCMI Board of Directors considers bestowing a member with the honor of “Life Member”. A member is chosen based on his/her service to the Institute and to its goals and purposes. “The person who serves – deserves.” There are years when one or more of our members stand out for having served above and beyond for the benefit of the Institute. Attend the Scholarship Luncheon to see who will receive this prestigious honor.

Children’s Program Children are an important part of the annual conference. They must have a badge to attend any of the functions. Please Pre-Register for the RMCMI Sunday events. We also need to know prior to the conference how many sitters will be needed for the Sunday “Kids Night Out” event.

Sunday June 27 – 6:00-10:00 p.m. – Children 6 months – 13 years will have a safe, fun evening with games, arts & crafts and dinner while their parents enjoy the Welcome Reception. Pre-registration is mandatory to assure the right number of dinners and sitters. Sitters are CPR/First Aid trained, and the event will be held at the Steamboat Sheraton.

Monday, June 28 – 6:30-10:30 p.m. – Children will join their parents during the BBQ and dance. There will be fun activities in the Coca Cola Adventure Zone, including a bungee jump, climbing wall, and several other options. Your children will be your responsibility during these activities.

Strawberry Hot SpringsJust outside of Steamboat Springs lies one of the most spectacular mineral springs in the world. Hot Springs Adventures provides door to door service, which includes the admission fee, plastic bags and a courteous experienced driver.
