LES ARTS DECORATIFS - PARIS | JUNE 23 - JULY 17, 2014

After the successful masterclass programs 2011, 2012, and 2013 with the famous pleating atelier of Mr. Gerard Lognon and the embroidery with the renowned Maison Lesage, the Arts of Fashion Foundation is offering to fashion students and recent graduates another unique opportunity with rising creative designers to work and explore the exclusive reservoir of Haute Couture from June 23, to July 17, 2014.

Participants will have the chance to be introduced to the diverse, unique and rich culture and history of craftsmanship from the parisian Haute Couture tradition. The main idea is not only to sharpen participants’ skills, increase their vision and develop their creative potential, but also pushing their design and inventiveness boundary to the appropriation of the know-how: ‘the antidote to uniformity’.

Following the inspiration of the current Paris’ fashion exhibitions and exploring design strategies such as the use of unconventional materials, the ideas of transgression and subversion including surrealism and pastiche, selected participants will create and design a capsule collection around a defined winter atmosphere - LE JARDIN DES PLANTES, luxurious vegetation, nature & garden.

Participants will have to build and construct two silhouettes from their capsule collection.

The pleats and embroidery research will be incorporated to the project in term of embellishment but also design and function.

A photoshoot will be organised on Friday July 17 and the Hall des Marechaux or the Salon des Boiseries at les Arts Decoratifs, in the Palais du Louvre, will host the ephemeral exhibition of the work in progress produced by participants on Thursday July 16, 2014.

A certificate will be delivered to students according to the full completion of the fashion masterclass, requirement & work exhibited.
