Happy Father’s Day!
We are thankful for our spiritual fathers. May God bless all our priests and may we always be grateful for their life of sacrifice. Out of their
love for Jesus and God the father, they chose to serve and be a spiritual father to all of us.
Without them there is no Eucharist, there is no Sacrament of Reconciliation. Thankful for them,
we should always be.

FEED THE FAITH 2021 Why are we Catholic? The Young Family Ministry invites those around the ages of 18-40 years to join us on Saturday, August 28, for a fun and spirit-filled event at St Lawrence Church in St. Lawrence, TX. Our mission is to bring young families and singles together for faith-building fellowship. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Sis at 4:00 pm. Following Mass in the Parish Hall will be Happy Hour from 5:00-6:00 pm, a domino tournament and corn hole, a catered meal, and guest speaker. Karlo Broussard, the designated speaker from Catholic Answers, will provide a talk over why we’re Catholic and fill us with a renewed sense of faith. Tickets for this event can be purchased at stlawrencecatholicchurch.com and the cost is $75/couple or $40/single person. Event is limited to the first 200 people registered. For any questions, please contact [email protected]
Feliz Dia del Padre! Estamos agradecidos por nuestros padres
espirituales.

Helping Hands of Midland 1301 Brinson Lane
Midland Tx. (432) 520-8900
We thank everyone in Midland whose donations to Helping Hands have made it possible to reach so many people in need. We are sometimes asked just what happens to the donations once they are given to us. That is really an excellent question and since we are limited in the space, we have we will concentrate on clothing. Once clothing is received it is sorted by our volunteers. If it is new of “gently worn” and in style, it is put in our thrift store (off-season clothing is stored until such time as it is in demand). Our clothing is sold at extremely discounted prices: a man’s suit sells for $10, women’s dresses are $5, sport shirts and ladies’ blouses are $3, jeans and pants are $5. Infants and baby clothing is $1, and toddler’s clothing is usually $3/set. We sell a tremendous volume of clothing each Wednesday and Saturday that we are open. Helping Hands is easily one of the most affordable places in Midland to buy clothing. We also give clothing to those in need who cannot afford to pay. Those who receive the giveaway items are victims of fire who have been referred to us by the Red Cross, those recently released from prison, residents of transitional housing such as Dismas Charities, people needing clothing to begin a new job, or those with a legitimate reason to not be able to pay. The clothing that we cannot use (either because it is not up to our standards or because we simply do not have enough room to store it) is bundled into 1,000-pound bales and shipped to a company out of Houston. From there it is again sorted through and those items that are still wearable are shipped to South America, Africa, Haiti and other developing countries where they are distributed to the poor at no charge. Clothing that is not wearable is sold and converted into shop rags and padding for carpeting. There is no waste with clothing at Helping Hands, nor is a piece of clothing ever discarded. The same criteria apply for shoes, hats, belts and bags. There is a tremendous amount of donations that you give us that will never see the inside of our store, but they will certainly be used and appreciated by someone in another part of the world. We thank all of you who continue to help the needy of Midland through your support of Helping Hands. You are appreciated so much!
Thank You, CMC Business Systems! And to Patrick Holeva and staff for the donation of the most excellent copier/printer for yet another year! You have made such a generous gift that has allowed us to serve our clients in a much more efficient and effective manner. Thank you very, very much!
Book Sale This coming week we will have a ½ price book sale at Helping Hands. On Wednesday and Saturday, all paperback will sell for a quarter, and all hard covers will be 50 cents. Come out and stock up!
