JUNE 2020 OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF HERITAGE RIDGE SOUTH PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION JUNE 2020 AT HERITAGE RIDGE SOUTH CAMBRIDGE Governor Ron DeSans reopened the State of Florida with Phase One on May 4, 2020, but scaled back some of what the White House stated as guidelines. The guidelines stated a 50% restaurant and non-essenal retail level opening, which included gyms. The Governor chose to open up a bit more slowly. DeSans stated that he would allow the guidelines, given by the White House, as long as those standards would be enforced regarding social distancing and other precauons were adhered to as far as stores, restaurants and workout centers. He also gave each Mayor the ability to decide what would be best for that county due to the number of cases report- ed. He said that the American people never signed up for perpetual shelter-in-place and he realized the need to get society funconing again but felt Florida should start with more small steps toward recovery. Bars, movie theatres and vacaon rentals will remain closed. DeSans stated that counes can present him with proposals to allow vacaon rental reopening and he will consider those on a case-by- case basis. Negoaons may take place on a short-term rental basis. The governor did not indicate when he might nudge the stated into Phase 2, which would likely reopen bars and possibly start some youth programs. He is considering how summer camps and other acvies could be opened for children. Data shows the virus is a very low risk for kids - he is thinking about leng parents make decisions that may be best for their kids. He feels that a lot of families are interested in geng some acvies going again for their children. There is a huge reality that once parents start back to work they will need to have somewhere where their children could spend their dayme hours while the parents are no longer available to care for them. Everyone has mixed feelings as to whether or not the country will ever be back to normal! It may never be exactly the same—things may be similar but things may also be completely different in how daily operaons funcon. Change may need to occur as far as how we think and act. Regardless, our country will bounce back and will be great again!

AT HERITAGE RIDGE SOUTH CAMBRIDGE

Governor Ron DeSantis reopened the State of Florida with Phase One on May 4, 2020, but scaled back some of what the White House stated as guidelines. The guidelines stated a 50% restaurant and non-essential retail level opening, which included gyms. The Governor chose to open up a bit more slowly. DeSantis stated that he would allow the guidelines, given by the White House, as long as those standards would be enforced regarding social distancing and other precautions were adhered to as far as stores, restaurants and workout centers. He also gave each Mayor the ability to decide what would be best for that county due to the number of cases report-ed. He said that the American people never signed up for perpetual shelter-in-place and he realized the need to get society functioning again but felt Florida should start with more small steps toward recovery. Bars, movie theatres and vacation rentals will remain closed. DeSantis stated that counties can present him with proposals to allow vacation rental reopening and he will consider those on a case-by-case basis. Negotiations may take place on a short-term rental basis. The governor did not indicate when he might nudge the stated into Phase 2, which would likely reopen bars and possibly start some youth programs. He is considering how summer camps and other activities could be opened for children. Data shows the virus is a very low risk for kids - he is thinking about letting parents make decisions that may be best for their kids. He feels that a lot of families are interested in getting some activities going again for their children. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

MONTHLY BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

Wednesday, June 17, 2020 7:00 PM at the Clubhouse

The Agenda Meeting will be at 10

AM on June 15, 2020

BOTH CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

What a year … The COVID-19 virus has made our normal life seem like a long time ago. We all need to adapt to a differ-ent lifestyle. Please be careful when you go out and continue using the CDC guidelines. While the Clubhouse has been closed, the board has made sev-eral modifications and repairs with a couple of Cambridge vol-unteers—Brownie & Carol Stuart. Yes, I am mentioning their names in this message because I feel they definitely deserve recognition. Without them, none of the repairs/renovations would have been done. Just to mention a few things, Brownie and his wife, Carol, cleaned all the outside pool chairs, painted the outside benches at the wharf at the pond, replaced the chain link fence around the swimming pool, repaired the overhang near the swimming pool that was leaking, and many other things that I can-not remember at this time. HATS OFF TO YOU BOTH AND THANK YOU!!! If not for volunteers, the Associa-tion members would pay more for maintaining the association property by hiring contractors. In the Fall, why not volunteer—it could save you some cash in the future!

A few other things that have been done is the swimming pool deck has been painted and the pool filters have been replaced. The shuffleboard courts have been completed with resurfaced courts, new benches and repairs. In closing, I would like to wish everyone a safe summer and I will see you in the Fall. Bob Souza President of the Board

ALL STREETS AND ALL HOURS IN CAMBRIDGE

CRIME WATCH BY GILDA WELBES

Fortunately, for us, the community of Cambridge is relatively ‘crime free”. We have no major crimes, just mostly domestic or nuisance disturbances. There are still some car break-ins and those are mostly due to vehicles being left unattend-ed and unlocked. Please keep in mind, the hurricane season is upon us and we need to prepare ourselves and our homes. Be sure to remove any loose items from your yards that could become propelled missiles in the event of high winds. We also need to be prepared for possible orders to evacuate. Should we have to evacuate, we need to have certain documents handy in case they are needed while we are away from our homes. In fact, some of those items may be needed to return to our homes. Depending on the situ-ation, there may be police officers stationed at the entrance of our community and they may ask for certain ’documentation’ in order for us to regain entry. This docu-mentation is usually a valid driver’s license showing the current ad-dress and 2 pieces of mail showing your name and current address. Protecting us and our property is what they are required to do. It may be a good idea to keep copies of those 2 pieces of mail in your vehicle—then you will be all set! Please to continue to play it safe!

This was sent in by a Cambridge resident—haha! Pretty sure this would NOT fly here in Cambridge!!!

If you choose to go to a beach in the next few months, please re-member the 6 ft distance guide-line—play it safe for yourself and everyone else!

Also, be sure to check out the guidelines of each beach!

May 2020 has now ended—another Mothers Day down in histo-ry. A Mothers Day that will always be remembered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mothers Day in the United States is a holiday honoring mother-hood by children presenting flowers, cards, gifts and spending special time with their mother/grandmother. This year it was a bit different—some may have spent time with their children in the same room and others from a distance. Some mothers don’t have their children living close enough to visit by any other means than phone, facetime or zoom calls. I was able to chat with my children by phone—two very special calls for me! I sent texts to other mothers that are good friends of mine—it made me feel good being able to honor special people. I hope all women in this community had a great Mothers Day! This month we are celebrating Fathers Day which is the third Sunday in June. Again, we celebrate all fathers in general, in-cluding men that are father figures such as guardians and grand fathers. Fathers are usually given gifts of home improvement, electronics and outside tools. Official ways to celebrate consist of phone calls, meals out, or a family gathering. Again, it will be a bit different this year and will go down in history as a Fathers Day during the COVID-19 pan-demic. Another holiday that will never be forgotten! However you choose to celebrate, make it a great day! Saturday, June 20 is the first day of summer! Let’s continue to follow the guidelines given by Governor DeSantis to help improve our living circumstances and economy. Hopefully, this pandemic will end soon and things will go back to normal. Summer will go on - we are all in this together and will triumph together! Stay healthy and safe! Remember to check on your neighbors to see if they need anything—they are only a phone call and a stones throw away! Take care, Rhonda Kehoe

TO ALL CAMBRIDGE RESIDENTS

The past 3 to 4 months have brought many changes to our lifestyle. Now summer is here and we, as a communi-ty, have not had a lot of social activity. I am hoping I can put together a potluck dinner with karaoke for September and to be able to start our monthly break-fasts and the Dinner Dances. I am not sure if any kind of guidelines will be in affect but if so we will make sure all will be clean and everyone will be protect-ed. Stay tuned for more information and have a safe summer!

Those who have not headed back North yet and are planning to soon, please be careful and stay safe while you are gone. We can’t wait to see you again!
