June Mission Focus Christmas in June

Christmas Shoe Box Ministry is a project sponsored by UMCOR, United Methodist Committee on Relief. Boxes are filled all over the United States and sent to missionaries serving in third world countries. The missionaries distribute them to children ages 2 to 10 in the villages and towns they are serving. In some cases this may be their only pre-sent at Christmas. This year the boxes from the Mountain Lakes District will be going to Uganda, Africa. This year during June we will be again filling 100 Christmas Shoe Boxes. There will be a table at the Mission Depot explaining about the shoeboxes and what is needed to fill them. Thanks to the United Methodist Women for agreeing to pay the postage to get the boxes to the children. Please be praying how you and your family will be helping your church reach the goal of 100 boxes and 100 happy children!

Our Trip to UMCOR in Decatur

On Monday, May 8th, seven Live Love Circle members and two men worked at the UMCOR warehouse in Decatur. We carried 100 school bags that we made filled with the school supplies from our March Mission Focus. Along with packing these bags for ship-ment, we also assembled 57 tornado buckets and readied supplies for the next group that will assemble tornado buckets. When the next disaster occurs in our conference FEMA will pay $18.00 per hour for volunteer work at the UMCOR depot toward that dis-aster relief. Just nine people working for five hours that day raised $810.00 towards helping families in need.

Annual UMM Yard Sale
