Paper Angel Closet

Paper Angel Closet served four families in April with necessity items and prayer. Items most needed are bleach,

household cleaning items, dish soap, dryer sheets, shampoo, band aids, paper towels, maxi-pads, tampons and your

prayers for those less fortunate. God bless your continued support and

donations. Thank you Deacons for performing this

necessary reach-out ministry at Bethany Church.

MISSION OF THE MONTH

St. Bridget serves Loves Park and Machesney Park for those who are in need of help to feed their families. With summer almost here, children will not have school lunches to sustain them during the day and families will depend even more heavily on their help. The Missions and Outreach

Committee asks each of us to contribute monetarily with our Mission giving and also to donate non-perishable foods during the first two Sundays in June to benefit the St. Bridget Pantry. Containers are available in the Narthex and the Education Wing Entry for your donations. Let’s share with glad and generous hearts, knowing that we are doing just as the Lord would have us do for the needy.

Thank you for giving Bethany the opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with you every week during Worship. If you every have questions regarding Bethany, membership or about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ… or if you would simply like to talk to someone, please see Tim Krug or one of the Elders. Our desire is to share the love of Jesus and

make Bethany a Church home that is welcoming to everyone.

Summer Sunday’s During June, July and August, the Worship Committee is asking Bethany members and friends to reserve one Sunday afternoon each month at 5:00 p.m. to rejuvenate your spirit and magnify your praise for our Lord! Here is the schedule being planned: July 26 – Return Appearance by Fire @ 4th and State (Praise and Worship Band from Pekin, IL) July 17 – The Sonshine Girls from Belvidere August – Date to be Determined for an Exciting Youth Night

Mark your calendars now to receive the blessings being planned!

KIDS KORNER – June

In June we celebrate Father's Day God created a wonderful animal father when He created the Steamer Duck. The steamer duck lives along the shores of South America. The mother duck lays four to ten eggs. When the mother sits on the eggs to incubate them the father watches over her from either the shore or in the water.

After the baby ducks hatch, the mother then leads them to the water. The baby ducks stay by their mother in the water, and the father duck stays nearby, so he can come to the help of the mother in case a gull or something else comes to attack them. Not only do animals have fathers (or grand-fathers) to care and protect them but we do also. In fact, we have two fathers (or grandfathers) to care for us - one on earth and our Heavenly Father in Heaven, who watches over us.

Isn't God's creation, wonderful?

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Deacon Church Mouse Sez:

“I don't know who my grandfather was. I am much more

concerned to know what his grandson will be.” (Abraham

Lincoln)

Granny Church Mouse sez:

With God our heavenly father

behind us and His arms beneath us,

we can face whatever lies ahead of us.

A Great Father’s Day Story

Maltbie Babcock was a Presbyterian minister in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

Every day when he arose, he would say, "This is my Father's world."

Finally in 1901, he decided to write the song "This is my Father's World." He set the music

to a Traditional English melody and in 1915, S.F.L. arranged it to the music. (Franklin L.

Sheppard, a close friend of Babcock, who apparently did not want to call attention to himself and signed using his initials

rearranged as "S.F.L." Most sources state that Sheppard adapted the music from a traditional English melody that he learned

from his mother as a child.)

"This is my Father's world, And to my lis-t'ning ears;

All nature sings and round me rings, The music of the spheres.

This is my Father's World, I rest me in the thought;

Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas - His hand the wonders wrought."

What a wonderful Father’s Day thought for our Father in Heaven.

On a Final Note...Diane Johnson is Moving!

Diane Johnson and her family have been part of the Bethany family for many

years (since she was three, I believe), but she will be moving to Florida this

month to relocate near her children and grandchildren. We are so excited for her,

but our hearts are heavy because her presence will surely be missed at Bethany.

Best wishes Diane! Bethany is happy for this opportunity for you to make many

wonderful memories! May God bless and enrich your new life in Florida!

Bethany: Thank you so much for

supporting my trip to Chili. I will be abroad

from May 24 ‘til July 20 and will be sure to

keep you updated on the experiences and

memories I create. I am so excited for this

opportunity for God to use me to further His

Kingdom. Thank you for playing an important

part of this experience!

God Bless, Amanda McCormick
