    RESTAURANT REVIEWPLACE MAGAZINE'S

Walking into the doors of Calivino Wine Pub in Anaheim, the atmosphere immediately pulled me in. Calivino has the refinement of a wine bar and the relaxation of a pub; and best of all, it has the guilt-free comfort food option that dont necessarily break the diet. As soon as I stepped into the door, I was instantly greeted with a genuine, welcoming smile and was immediately shown to my table. Upon being seated, a waiter came to introduce herself whilst handing us a menu whose content contributed to the overall theme of Calivino: modern and tasteful.

The vibe of the restaurant caters to those escaping reality for a happy hour treat with co-workers, a special dinner date, or just to enjoy a simple glass after a long day. The restaurant proudly serves only craft beer and a rotation of carefully selected wine. The restaurant interior is charming with its rustic and modern decor collaboration. It's clean, simple and cozy; which helps when the place invariably fills to capacity around dinnertime. There are sofas for those who wish to unwind with a drink or two. The walls display pieces that show the pride of being in California. In fact, Calivino owner Daniel Bradley stated that his choice of the restaurant name was a collaboration of the terms California and Vino, a common term for wine; the name is a symbol of new world meeting old world. Everything I ordered, I would recommend every single time.

For appetizers, I tried the popular Bacon Dateswhich are pieces of goat cheese wrapped with bacon. I would have never thought that the items would go hand-in-hand, but they do. The briny taste that is bacon was harmonized by the basic, yet distinct taste of goat cheese.

For the main course, I received the Ahi Salad, which consisted of seared Ahi (which was lightly seared in the outer parts and raw in the center; as Ahi should be) atop a lively salad with a soy-citrus dressing. The salad dressing was my favorite part of the Calivino experience; like most [if not all] items from Calivino, the soy-citrus dressing was created from scratch in the kitchenthe word incredible doesnt even begin to describe it. Do yourself a favor, order thisyou will thank us later. As for dessert, I ordered the Beignets. As someone who frequents New Orleans just to eat properly made beignets, I was a tad afraid to try this particular item. Ruining a beignet ruins the entire meal experience; I have never found a restaurant not located in Louisiana that makes proper Beignets Calivino is the exception to this.

My only regret in the entire ordering-process was not trying everything the Chef had to offer.

Calivino Chef Jeremy is a mastermind with the cuisines he produces. All plates leaving the Calivino kitchen are made with not only the freshest and best ingredients, but with pride. With every bite, you can taste just this. Theres even a subtle joke in the menu of $100 per substitutionjust kidding; its a joke to be taken to heart, let the master Chef do his job and youll be pleased with the outcome. What I ate at Calivino are items that I can eat forever.

Owner Dan Bradley stated the following as to why he created Calivino: I wanted a chill place that was not too stuffy, I wanted a wine bar that was not intimidating to the normal folks out there. This is a place where you can bring a date, but also where you can bring your buddies. Its also admirable to note the Bradley often physically serves his customers in the front lines; and he genuinely seems to enjoy interacting with those who visit. The concepts of wine bars and pubs have been done over and over again in the past; its not a new idea to the restaurant world. Yet, it is always refreshing to see a restaurant, not just attempting one but both, execute itself to perfection. The Calivino slogan states it best: Fine Wine. Craft Beer. Brilliant Food. And thats exactly what youll get.

THE WATERFRONTPIER - MARINA - BAY

The City of Laguna Beach is well known as an irreplaceable beach community and artist's colony with seven miles of City beaches running along its nine square miles. The residents of Laguna Beach enjoy the atmosphere provided by the coastal beaches, canyons and rolling hills. During the summer, several million visitors are drawn to the resort environment for its picturesque beaches, art festivals and the Pageant of the Masters.

Pageant of the MastersPageant of the Masters is artistic reenactment by real people posing as portrait subjects. In each painted master, you will find people that are painted to look like the original painting. When people within the art are ready and posed, the special effects lighting is turned on. In a matter of seconds, you have a piece of artwork that looks like the original, only with motionless humans within in the painting. A live narrator and orchestra set the scene and helps create the magic.

Sawdust FestivalThe Sawdust features the fine art and craft

of over 200 Laguna Beach artists and is sure to be the highlight of your summer adventures. Art enthusiasts, collectors, and novice artists have come to the Sawdust since our beginning in 1966 for a mix of fine art and craft. Media include hand-blown and fused glass, painting, jewelry, surf art, ceramics, clothing and

textiles, wood and metal sculpture, scrimshaw, photography, and so much more.

The festival grounds will is transformed into a winter wonderland where 175 artists create, display and sell original creations for the holiday season. The Winter Fantasy offers unique holiday shopping in all of Southern California. Art media includes jewelry, clothing, fused and blown glass, ceramics, woodwork, forged metals, painting, photography, sculpture, clothing and textiles.

You can experience unique artwork, live holiday entertainment, great outdoor cafes, art classes and demonstrations, petting zoo, Santa and so much more!

Visitors are attracted to the art village located in the canyons of Laguna Beach. From small galleries to art festivals, the artist village is something that is not to miss.

Laguna Canyon FoundationLaguna Canyon Foundation is dedicated to preserving, protecting, enhancing and promoting the South Coast Wilderness a network of open space that includes Laguna Coast Wilderness Park & Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park.

The South Coast Wilderness comprises 20,000 contiguous acres of parks, including

Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Parks, Crystal Cove State Park and the City of Irvine Open Space South. Managed and supported by various government and nonprofit entities, these areas link seamlessly to provide miles and

miles of pristine wildlife habitat. Surrounded by Orange Countys busiest freeways and cities, the South Coast Wilderness provides an increasingly rare and valuable refuge for urban residents seeking natural beauty and solitude. Visitors can discover

the countys only natural lakes, a thriving wildlife community, nature centers and, recreational activities from hiking and birding to mountain biking. So get out and see a rare form of nature that you can find right here in Orange County.

The Beauty of LagunaAside from the art, shopping and natural

wilderness, take a walk along the board that will lead you down Laguna sandy shore. Take in the beauty, the sounds of the ocean crashing and at night the evening glow that will surround you.

Between the festivals and nature trails, there's something for everyone in Laguna

Whether youre a visitor looking to see the sights of Hollywood, or like me, a seasoned SoCal mom whos always a bit too busy to find time to see the sights, Starline Tours is the way to go.

Starline Tours offers many tours to choose from. Ive got three daughters, and for my familys adventure, we opted for the Hop-On, Hop-Off Double Decker Fun Tour of Hollywood on an open-air bus. This particular tour stops at 17 different locations where you can hop off at any time and see the sights, then catch the next bus 40 minutes later.

We checked in at Graumans Chinese Theatre, and our day was already starting off with delight. The girls were mesmerized by all of the stars hand and footprints left in the cement. There seemed to be hundreds of them.

We boarded our big red bus and headed to the top level. My kiddos were so excited to see Hollywood. Heres just a taste of some of the awesome sights we experienced:

    - House of Blues Sunset Strip- Nickelodeon Studios- Millions of Milkshakes- LACMA- The Original Farmers Market- Pinks- Paramount Studios- Pantages Theatre, Hollywood- Hollywood Walk of Fame- Madame Tussauds Hollywood- And so much moreThe main Starline Tours terminal is

located at Graumans Chinese Theatre at 6925 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood.
