RULES QUESTiON OF THE MONTHQ: A player’s ball went into a bunker. The playeraccidentally kicked a pine cone into the bunker as he wasentering to take his shot. He picked up the pine cone, which was not interfering with his stance or swing. Didhe incur a penalty?

Answer on next page

Now is the time to work on your game,as the season kicks off. We offer privateinstruction at a fee of $50 per lesson.

Book a series of 3 private lessons for $125 or aseries of 5 private lessons for $200. Grouplessons, clinics and playing lessons also offered. Are you struggling to hit solid shots?

Sometimes all it takes to find your groove is agood swing thought. Try this: Keep yourheight throughout your swing. Feel tall bykeeping your spine straight when you hit shots. This will help you maintain the width of yourarms and prevent you from scooping the ball. Here’s one more thing to think about: Where isyour weight during your swing? The worstplace is on the heels. You can’t play good golffrom there. Make good practice swings withyour weight distributed more toward the ballsof your feet. Feel yourself standing tall withyour weight properly balanced which willproduce more consistency. If you have anyquestions, please feel free to ask any of our staffprofessionals for help.

Golf Course UpdategREENS UPDATE & MAiNTENANCE PLANSThe mini-verde grass on the greens is now

actively growing due to the warmertemperatures. Many of the thin areas on

the greens have seen significant grass growth, and we are optimistic that throughout thesummer we will continue to see substantialgrass coverage. On Wednesday June 8th, wewill aerify all greens on the course to continueto stimulate grass growth and improve rootdepth and health. We have added sod in someof the weaker areas of greens that we feltneeded additional turf. We are now ready to do some additional work

on #14 and #15 greens. On Wednesday June 1we will be aerifying the greens on these twoholes. We will collect the cores from theaerfication of the green where grass coverage ishealthy and we will insert the healthy cores intothe weak areas of the greens. The green on hole#14 will remain open during this process but wewill rope off the area of the green while it growsin. This section of green will be hand watered

frequently for a few weeks in an effort to keepthe newly planted cores healthy. Because of thelarge size of the area being plugged on hole #15,we will close the green and use a temporarygreen for a few weeks while we re-establish thegrass coverage. These two greens will bewatered heavily until the grass is healthyenough for normal maintenance. It is also important to note that we plan to

increase the frequency of small tine aerifications(spiking), fertilizing, verti-cutting and topdressing of all greens in an effort to strengthenthe grass and root system during the growingseason, as well as improve playing conditions. Most of these programs will not result in anyserious disruption to play, but please be patientwith us as we try to stimulate as much grassgrowth as possible on the greens. We thank you for your cooperation and

patience as we continue to make improvementsand repairs on the course. If you have anyquestions about course related items, please feelfree to contact me.Gordon Williams,Golf Course Superintendant
