Recto2 Outlets

At last year’s Batibouw we exhibitedthe Vantage facepla-tes for our outlets –since we wanted toput a perfectly finis-

hed product on the market this processtook slightly longer than planned. To bequite honest, we overhauled the com-

plete design. The faceplates are a sepa-rate item: recto_ – these are availablein all Vantage colours – only in trimline. They can be used on Ticino outlets andflush-mounting boxes. On the following diagram you can seewhich parts you need.

New improved thermostat

We have recently improved the thermostat. Today, three models are available (theHPT-1 has been scrapped). It is not really a thermostat, it should actually be called a temperature controlsystem. To allow for a seamless interaction, we have also adapted the Q-ets or the ther-mostat interface, which ensures two-way communication to the thermostat overthe Vantage bus. The new Q-ETS interface is equipped with a wiring for connectionto a 24V power supply. The Q-ETS, like most Vantage products, also has an "updated firmware" capability.

New item codes:Q-ETS-R3V-SST-1-R3V-MST-1-R3V-HPT-2-R3The prices remain unchanged.

On the diagram you can see which parts you need.

Topical NewsToday we’re celebrating.....and Vantage is showing itscolours! To mark this specialoccasion, we have also addeda bit of colour to our maga-zine... As you may have gues-sed, we’re celebrating thelatest addition to our pro-duct line: the COLOUR 5.5"fully freely programmabletouch screen!

On page 5 you can read moregeneral information aboutthe Vantage system. This is,however, only a brief descrip-tion. For further information, please do not hesitate tocontact us.

In our regular feature "A closer look at a project",we will this time be lookingat the showroom of HugoNeumann, the Belgian importer of Targetti, thewell-known Italian lightingmanufacturer.

And... while our next magazi-ne may no longer be incolour, it too will be a specialissue as more novelties willbe revealed in September .....

The new Bose line can now

directly communicate with the

Vantage System. Bart Stuyven,

of our Engineering depart-

ment, who recently carried out

the tests, tells us that accor-

ding to Bose this is only possi-

Based in Wauthier-Braine, s.a. HugoNeumann n.v. has been synonymouswith top lighting ever since it wasfounded in 1928. The company providesconsultancy and showroom services toarchitects and designers. And here, inthis universe of light, Vantage is, ofcourse, also present.

Today, s.a. Hugo Neumann n.v. is theexclusive importer of the Targettigroup, one of Italy’s leading manufac-turers of technical, architectural anddecorative lamps. Other major brandsthat are represented include Arealite,Studio Italia Design, Valenti andTerzani, to name but a few.

Color Kinetics

"And there’s also Color Kinetics, ourlatest newcomer," says Project ManagerEric Neumann. "This is an exclusivelamp collection for interior, exteriorand underwater lighting, made possible

by the innovatory Color Kinetics LEDtechnology, which sets new standardsin the field of lighting architecture.Designers can give their imaginationfree reign in their efforts to producethe most spectacular of designs." This isnot surprising as Color Kinetics allowslight effects to be created with over 16million colours, in countless combina-tions and gradations.

The Vantage system controls thenumerous light collections on displayin the showrooms. The Color Kineticsline communicates with Vantage viaan RS232 or DMX interface. The result? Mixing and changingcolours, fading in and out… they areall fully automated.

Showroom

Eric Neumann takes us on a small tour:"Our showroom is actually partitionedinto a number of rooms, each of whichis provided with a Vantage keypad. Eachroom, but also the common passage-ways and the entrance hall are equip-ped with motion detectors. This is veryconvenient when a customer is walkingunaccompanied through our show-rooms. The motion detectors activatecertain circuits and thus create a dyna-mic lighting without it being necessaryfor the customer to touch any of thekeypads. The light is turned on as soonas he enters a given room. If the lightwas already on, the motion detectorsare disabled."

For the seminars that are organisedhere, a number of light scenesusing different lights have beenprogrammed. These scenes can be

selected from the keypads, but also viaa remote control and a central touchscreen. In addition, a number of loopshave been programmed, wherebyspecific scenes are automatically repea-ted at specific intervals.

We also see a number of walls on whichdifferent types of lighting are mounted. Here you can each time select a diffe-rent light via the keypad. By pressing abutton one light goes out and the nextcomes on and so on. One button is pro-vided per scene.

The remote controls in the variousrooms have also been programmed withsimilar controls: individual, scenes andloops. Via the small touch screen, whichis located in the main room, the usercan control almost everything individu-ally.

And there is more than just the lightingin the showrooms. Also the projectionscreen, an essential tool in training ses-sions and presentations, is controlled byVantage.

Vantage

Eric Neumann has further concreteplans with Vantage for the near future. He is thinking of a dimmer module withan exterior cell for a programmed luxlevel, which is to be linked up with theTargetti dimmable TL lighting.

When we finally ask Eric Neumann whyhe chose Vantage, it appears that hehas some very specific reasons: "Wehave for several years been neighboursat Batibouw and we have an excellentcontact. The help we have received

Design

At Vantage, we believe automationcontrols should instil confidence, notevoke anxiety. Plug-and-play* control-lers and modules, and a simple two-conductor, non-polarized low voltagesystem bus* guarantee ease of installa-tion and operation.

Not only does one three-inch Q-SeriesKeypad Station replace four feet ofconventional light switches and dim-mers, HVAC, security, motorized andaudio/video controls, it installs easilyonto Vantage’s system bus. Throughtime division multiplexing (TDM)*, dataand power are transmitted through thesame two wires. And because the wiresare non-polarized, even the most deci-dedly disinclined technocrat could wireup a system.

From the auxiliary ports* on the back ofVantage’s elegantly simple KeypadStation, sensors, detectors, componentsand accessories can be easily wired totheir locations – eliminating the needfor home runs. This distinctive featureis the vehicle that makes Vantage inte-gration effortless.

And because Q’s Master Controller usesan embedded microprocessor chip*, the

entire system runs independent of adedicated PC, which have a curioushabit of crashing. Simply program thesystem using Vantage’s intuitive QLinksoftware and download. Flash memory*retains all programming, even whenMaster Controllers are switched out.

Why Vantage ?With Vantage’s Q-Series, the homeowner’s

whims – and the architect’s best designs – are only a button press away.

Muscle

Easy to maintain and simple to operate, the Q-Series’ aggressive performance affords quintessential control for to-day’s demanding applications. One Q-Series Master Controller commands upto 250 points of control* – a virtuallylimitless capacity when considering asingle system facilitates up to 15Master Controllers for a total of 7500*controllable buttons. This immensecontrol is also accessible via telephoneand remote control. Call into yoursystem on the way back from vacationto adjust thermostats back to occupiedsettings, or call from the slopes to warmup the hot tub after a perfect day ofskiing.

Vantage’s 8000-watt* SCR DimmingModule complements the MasterController’s robust capacity. Fed by two20A line feeds, the SCR DimmingModule effectively controls eight setsof dimmable loads. And, with 8,000ramping steps* in its dimming conti-nuum, the SCR Dimming Module provi-des absolute seamless dimming overlong fade times. Program your landsca-pe lighting to gradually illuminate withthe setting of the sun, or your wallsconces to brighten with the sunrisewith Vantage’s astronomical clock.

Also to the Q-Series line-up is Vantage’sbrawny Relay Module. Triac arc sup-pression* virtually eliminates wear onrelay contacts, resulting in extended lifeand reliable service, even with eight, full 20-amp non-dimmable and swit-ched loads*. One-touch motorized dra-peries have never been easier or morereliable.

Learnable buttons and conditional and

timed functions add an extra level ofautomated convenience and securityfor the homeowner, allowing thehomeowner to truly own and controlhis or her integrated system.

Reliability

Vantage is highly confident in the en-gineering and quality of its Q-Series,and therefore backs all hardware andfactory workmanship with a 5-yearwarranty*. The industry standard istwo. Five years of warranty coveragealso means the system will not be obso-lete with the first technological deve-lopment.

However, if problems should arise,Vantage has engineered many safe-guards into the system.

In addition to running independent offallible PCs, which were never designedto continuously operate a comprehen-sive integration system – or operate atall after a few years – Vantage incorpo-rates distributed processing. For exam-ple, in the unlikely event one MasterController goes down, distributed pro-cessing means the other controllers andmodules continue functioning without

interruption. And Vantage’s internatio-nal network of dedicated representati-ves can quickly and competently offersupport.

All programming problems and "glit-ches" can be corrected from anywherein the world by certified Vantage repre-sentatives by dialing into the home-owner’s system at his or her request. This remote interface* capability ispopular among current Vantageowners.

For natural disasters and extreme emer-gencies, Vantage’s Manual Overrideadds an extra level of security by ensu-ring the homeowner will always havelighting and any other pre-selectedsub-systems.

In providing comfort and convenience,Vantage is perfect and reliable. Always.
