“Then I Got Invited to a Bible Study”
Isaiah 55.11
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
Dr. Gary Parker, a scientist with a doctorate in biology, used to love teaching his students about what he called “the fact of evolution.” As he describes it in his book Creation Facts of Life, “For me, evolution was much more than just a scientific theory. It was a total world-and-life view, an alternate religion, a substitute for God.”
He continued, “I didn’t just believe evolution. I embraced it enthusiastically! And I taught it enthusiastically! I considered it one of my major missions as a science professor to help my students rid themselves of old, ‘pre-scientific’ superstitions, such as Christianity.” Dr. Parker also points out that he was willing to let his students believe in whatever “god” they wanted to…just as long as their religious belief did not keep them from believing in evolution.
His story takes a sudden turn, however, when he writes, “But then I got invited to a Bible study.” For this distinguished scientist, everything changed.
And for many years now, through his books and seminars, he has been using science and logic to teach that evolution is false. “And it’s not just me,” he adds. “Thousands of scientists are sharing the scientific evidences in God’s world that encourage us to believe all the wonderful promises and principles in God’s Word, the Bible.”
It’s truly amazing how adaptable even the scientific mind becomes when considering the complete body of evidence rather than conforming to unproven hypotheses like evolution.

PRAYER REQUESTS:
Praying According to the Bible Psalm 138 – Let the Lord know that you will praise Him.
Suggested Good Work Be considerate with all.
My Sermons on Revelation As you know I have begun a series of sermons on the Book of Revelation, but I am not covering it the way I have in the past. Rather I am looking at it topically. What prompted me to do this series in this manner was Eugene Peterson’s book, Reversed Thunder. Also, I had been giving the
titles, “God’s Final Say on…” but I have changed it to, “God’s Final Declaration on…” because the wording makes it stronger. Today I have some other topics to cover, and next week, I will be gone. So I shall resume Revelation in July.
New Wednesday Class Subject We started this past Wednesday, thinking on the Books of First and Second Kings, and when I complete the current subject on Sunday mornings (Searching for Truth), we will also use that time to cover First and Second Kings.
This Lord’s Day Evening: Questions and Answers The First and Second Grade Class on Wednesday has submitted questions for me to answer in a sermon, which I will do this evening, Lord willing.
The Wisdom of George Washington: On Peace with Others “Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all.” “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12.18).
Old Farmer’s Advice • Life is simpler when you plow
a round the s tump. We ge t frustrated worrying about things.
Words that soak into your ears are whispered…not yelled. A gentle tongue breaks the bones.
• Meanness don’t jes’ happen overnight. Situations reveal the abundance of the heart.
• Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.
• Yo u c a n n o t u n s ay a c r u e l word. You cannot unsay any words.
• E v e r y p a t h h a s a f e w puddles. Show me someone whose life you think has been perfect, and I will show you puddles in their lives.
• Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.
• Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got. Sometimes you are the pigeon, sometimes you are the statue.
• The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin’.
• Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in. Be careful what you say.
• If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around.
