Dear Parishioners, Last Sunday we celebrated the feast of the Holy Spirit. Today we are taking a look at God and we cele-brate the Trinity. Jesus is the way to the Father, the Spirit is the inner urge to move in the way to the Fa-ther. We do not move to the father,

but we are drawn into the Father. The Trinity is living in us and we are in the Trinity. Jesus said, “Do you not be-lieve that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?” The words of Jesus are applicable to each one of us, “God or the Holy Trinity is residing in each of us”! Yours Sincerely, Fr. Jose Shaji, Pastor

St. Anselm’s “Goodbye Spring, Hello Summer” Luncheon

Summer is almost here. Are you free for lunch on June 18th? Join fellow members of our St. Anselm Community for an Outdoor Luncheon in our Church Courtyard. Enjoy good food and great company! Date: Tuesday, June 18th Time: 12:00pm Place: St. Anselm Church Cour tyard

The parish Spiritual Life Committee plans to sponsor a series of Community Conversations based upon Conversation Starters suggested by Commonweal Magazine. Each session will probably last about two hours, and will deal with a single topic around the Church, spirituality, or social justice. Prior to each session, participants will be provided with a series of articles or other readings that will deepen our familiarity with the session’s topic. The first conversation will be on Modern Spirituality, and how we, as Catholics, engage with God through the incarnate Jesus, both in ritual, in our prayer life, and in ministry. Deacon Bob will facilitate the Conversation. We would like to survey the level of interest by asking you, if you think you’d like to join in this first session to write in your name and email address on the lists on the tables at the back of the pews; when you add your name to the list, please also indicate your preference for a morning, afternoon, or evening session. You may also email your interest to [email protected]. To give enough time for you to read the materials, we would plan the first session for the last week in June. We hope you’ll find these Community Conversations interesting and thought-provoking.

Teachings on Tap St. Anselm Church is so excited to extend an invitation to all adults 21 and up for our monthly ministry called Teachings on Tap. We meet every third Wednesday of

the month at a local restaurant for appetizers, drinks and conversation about God. Our next outing is scheduled for June 19th from 6:30pm-7:45pm (location TBD). Must RSVP to [email protected] by June 17th.

Green Tip: These beautiful weekends make hopping on our bikes irresistible! How about including a bike ride to Mass on Sunday? The bike rack in the church parking lot is waiting for you. Bring your lock, of course. 5 reasons to ride your bike to church:

1– Wake Up & Unwind: It’s better than morning coffee. Get the metabolism moving and jump start your mind 2- Smell the Wildflowers: Become more aware of your natural surroundings and notice all the beauty God has gifted you. 3- Save Money: With gas pr ices being so high, it adds up quickly. 4– Get Fit & Lose Weight: The more you r ide, the more ice cream you can eat. 5– Protect the Environment: You’ll be one less car

on the road. Help cut greenhouse gas emissions and reduce the nation’s dependence on oil. Put the bike rack in the church parking lot to good use.

SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: The Most Holy Trinity; Father’s Day; Julian Calendar Pentecost Monday: Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Wednesday: St. Romuald Friday: St. Aloysius Gonzaga; Summer begins Saturday: St. Paulinus of Nola; Ss. John Fisher and Thomas More; Blessed Virgin Mary

MARRIED COUPLES: Pope John Paul II said “I place much of my hope for the future in marriage encounter”. Aren’t you anxious to know why? The next Marriage Encounter Weekend is Aug 9-11, 2019 in San Francisco, CA. For more information and/or to register for the Weekend, visit our website at: sanjosewwme.org or contact Ken & Claranne at [email protected] or 408-782-1413.

Making a Difference Pope Francis continually reminds us of the importance of listening. One quote: “People are looking for someone to listen to them. Someone willing to grant them time, to listen to their dramas and difficulties. This is what I call the “apostolate of the ear,” and it is important”. This is a step MOC (Marin Organizing Committee) takes in every meet-ing. Then we work together to see if we can create structural changes that matter to people.

Thank you to the St. Anselm Parishioners who listened and then attended City Council meetings to support the 48% of San Rafael citizens who are renters. Last week, after months of efforts, the City of San Rafael passed Renter Protection Ordinances. Previously, we had worked to get the ordinances passed in the County and Fairfax.

Why did we choose this issue to support? Because in meetings held throughout the County, including here at St. Anselm, rising rents and lack of housing came up over and over again. If you would like to know more about MOC and how to make positive changes in our community, contact Deacon Bernie Ohalloran ([email protected], 415-454-3496) or Pat Langley ([email protected]). Another way to learn more about MOC is to attend a dele-gates meeting on June 23, 3-5 pm at Rodef Sholom,
