Change Your Desktop

Right-click on a blank area of the desktop and choose Properties.

Customize your Desktop color and background. Screen Saver and Power settings. Change resolution and font size on

Settings tab.



Change Windows Explorer defaults Open My Computer or Win Explorer

Windows key–E opens immediately Configure view to your preferences Click Tools > Folder Options Click View tab Choose more options Click Apply, then Apply to All

CHANGE YOUR HOME PAGE Browse to your desired home page Click Tools > Options On the main page, select Use

Current as home page

CHANGE COOKIE SETTINGS Click Tools > Options On the Privacy page change cookie

CHANGE PASSWORD HANDLINGCHANGE POP-UP BLOCKER



Customize Microsoft Office The instructions are too detailed for

this presentation. File > Properties to set your user

name. Tools > Options for many options. Tools > Customize to modify toolbars. In Word, modify your Normal.dot

template to change default formatting.



Map your network drives Open Windows Explorer

(My Computer) Browse to the network share you

want to assign a drive letter Right click and choose “Map …”

- or – Tools > Map… Enter path or browse to target folder



Clean up unnecessary programs Open Control Panel Click Add or Remove Programs Delete programs you know you don’t

want Redundant antivirus, firewall, antispy Browser “assistants” such as search

tools, including Yahoo or Google toolbar Ad engines such as Weatherbug Resource hogs such as AOL dialer
