WORSHIP

Baptismal Congratulations

We would like to welcome Conner James Strubberg

who will be baptized here this Sunday, June 10th into our parish Community. Conner is the Son of

Mark & Karla Strubberg Please help us in welcoming the Conner

into our parish family.

UNABLE TO WALK TO COMMUNION? If you are unable to walk up in procession for communion please let the greeter/usher know when you arrive at

mass. They will then let the Eucharistic Minister know so that they will stop for you before they go up to the choir. We only ask that you please sit on the right hand side of

church.

10th Sunday in Ordinary Time- We Must Not Divide The readings are extraordinarily rich in their content as we return to Ordinary Time. We are reminded of how quick the devil can lead us to blame others for our sins, as Adam

blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent. The Gospel shows that that which is divided cannot stand. It is the same for us as Catholics today. We must stand united in the truth and beauty of our faith and share that faith with others. Fewer things are more detrimental to our cause of evangelization than interior division within. We must put aside all quarreling, bitterness, envy, and hatred for one another and instead be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger in dealing with our brothers and sisters. Let that be our message for today:

seek unity in the truth and do not fight your own brothers and sisters in Christ. When a non-Catholic sees Catholics arguing and fighting with other Catholics, why would that non-Catholic want to become Catholic?

Join Us Join us for Fr. Phil’s going away reception and

Fr. Mathew’s welcoming reception.

We will be holding Fr. Phil’s going away reception on June 23rd after the 4:30pm Mass here at St. Ann’s. (Mass will be moved to 4:30pm for this Saturday evening) The reception will be held in St. Ann’s

Parish Center. We will be holding Fr. Mathew’s welcoming reception

on July 15th after the 10:30am Mass at St . Gertrude’s. Reception will be held

in the Parish Center at St. Gertrude’s.

FAITH FORMATION

St. Gertrude's Men’s Faith Sharing Group

St. Gertrude Men’s faith shar-ing group. Our Next meeting will be Saturday, July 14 6:00 am at the Helfta House.

registration. You can drop it in the collection basket, drop

it by the office or mail it to the church.

St. Ann / St. Gertrude VBS Bring your kids to Babylon, where Daniel had courage in

captivity. You’ll travel back into Bible times—without setting foot outside our

community. Experience this fun, hands-on Bible-times city at St. Ann Parish Center. Each day, your child/children can

become part of history as they see, hear, touch, and even taste what it was like to live in

Babylon! You’ll explore the Marketplace shops, visit Daniel, take part in games, dance to lively Bible songs, and sample tasty tidbits as you discover more about

Daniel’s adventures in Babylon. These experiences make God’s Word come alive with new meaning for all who

participate! The adventure is on July 16th thru 20th.

Registration packets are in the back of church. Preschool thru 6th grade.

For more information or questions call the parish office at 239-3222.

Prayer under the Pavilion

We will have our outdoor rosary again this summer commemorating Our Lady of

Fatima’s Apparitions. Starting in June at 7pm under the pavilion at St. Gertrude’s. Please join us June 13, July 13, Aug 13

and Sept. 13.

For the last 7 years children of our parishes, their friends and families have participated in Vacation Bible School. Each

summer, 80 to 90 children engage in Christ, encounter team work, and reach out to the community. Each year, you, our parishioners have supported this, week long, extravaganza for God and we are eternally grateful. I am here to ask for your continued support. In the back of church you will find a giving banner to help financially sponsor our event, please take an ornament. This will help offset the cost of the many activities and games the children participate in. In addition, this year we

are asking for travel sized toiletries (soaps, shampoo, deodorant, etc). The children will be putting together blessing

bags for our local first responders to hand out. First responders regularly encounter families in the area plagued with homelessness and others displaced by a fire or eviction. At bible school the children are reminded of God’s love for them and love of others. This is an opportunity for them to proclaim and live the message of Christ, first hand. Baskets will be available in the back of St. Ann and St. Gertrude

Churches for these items.

Again, on behalf of the Vacation Bible School organizers,

thank you for your prayers and support.

STEWARDSHIP AND GOVERNANCE

Altar Flowers Altar flowers are a great way to honor, remember your loved one or a special occasion you and your family

may be celebrating, such as an anniversary, wedding, birth, etc. They can be

purchased for a donation of $40 for two

arrangements of fresh flowers/plants.

Steward’s Corner

One of the greatest gifts we can give anyone is to

help them develop a sustainable prayer life.

- Matthew Kelly

June 10, 2018 - 10th Sunday in Ordinary Time “And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not

be able to stand.” – MARK 3:25 Do your parish ministries complement each other or do they compete against each other? Is your parish “one Body of Christ” or a bunch of little, separate ministries controlled by human ego? The goal of all parish ministries is to bring peo-ple to Christ. All of our parish work should be for the glory of

God’s name, not our own name.

Stewardship Prayer My parish is composed of people like me. I help make it worth it is. It will be friendly, if I am. It will be holy, if I am. It’s pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do great work, if I work. It will be prayerful, it I pray. It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver. It will bring others into worship, if I invite and bring them in. It will be a place of loyalty and love, of fearless and faith, of compassion, charity, and mercy, if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same

things. Therefore, with the help of God, I now dedicate myself to the task of being all the things that I wasn't my

parish to be. Amen
