2018 Diocesan Lenten Appeal: The total of pledges and gifts received is $146,588. That means we have exceeded our diocesan goal by $30,713. At this point, all dollars pledged or given will be returned to our parish and used here. We are hoping to raise an additional $40,000 from this year's DLA to fund the costs associated with repairing the leaking windows in the church. If you haven’t made a donation, please prayerfully discern your gift and return your pledge card as soon as possible. In addition, you can make your pledge online at DLA.dioceseofgreensburg.org.

Something to consider for those over the age of 70:!!

Did you know that the Internal Revenue Code allows completely TAX!FREE charitable contributions of assets invested in Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)? The law benefits IRA owners who are 70½ years of age or older at the time of their gift. There are 5 simple rules:

1. The donor is age 70½, or older, on the day of the gift;2. The amount cannot exceed $100,000 for an indi-vidual;3. The charitable rollover applies toward your mini-mum required distribution and MUST be sent direct-ly to your parish or designated charitable entity;4. The donor does not receive any goods or services in return for the rollover gift in order to qualify for tax! free treatment;5. The donor can make the gift any time during the year.

Any donor age 70 ½ who has an IRA, no matter the size, would do well to consider using this asset as a source of gifting to our parish. The benefits include greater flexibility in income and financial planning, AND more sizable tax!wise gifts to one’s favorite charity. Our parish, along with Catholic Schools, Cath-olic Charities, and all ministries and programs of the diocese are eligible recipients of tax!free IRA distribu-tions. For more information, call The Catholic Founda-tion for the Diocese of Greensburg at 724!552!2588.

St. Anthony of Padua!!

"St. Anthony, St. Anthony, come around! Something's lost that must be found!" Did you learn this rhyme in childhood? St. Anthony of Padua is more than the patron saint for lost items. By his life, he shows a special interest in lost souls. St. Anthony was born to noble parents, but he preferred a simple life of faith to the riches of his childhood. He joined the Franciscan order in 1220. He quickly became known for his eloquence in preaching. He had a way of reaching all sorts, from nobles to clergy to those who had fallen away from the Catholic faith. In addition to preaching, St. Anthony organized supplies for the poor and nego-tiated release for prisoners of war be-tween Italian city!states. However you or your loved ones feel lost this week, pray for St. Anthony's intercession!
