The six member ICAN International team travelledall the way from Fiji during the month of Julyto join us in time to share the gospel with SvaayDamnark 2, a new Kuy village in the hills.

We set out early in the morning and travelled mostpart of the day when the warm rays of the sun andthe cool winds of the Kuy lands started to beatdown on us. We reached our destination early inthe evening. We walked 10 kilometres and took atractor ride for the next 5 kilometres to reach thevillage. It was an exciting and challenging trip forall of us because it was a new village and God wasextending our borders in reaching more Kuy peoplewith the good news of Jesus Christ.

The Lord used a 55-year-old widow, Vanthet toembrace the gospel and welcome us into SvaayDamnark. It was also through the perseverance andfrequent visits of Pra Sok, a fellow believer and

house church leader from the neighbouring villageand the power of the Holy Spirit that convictedVanthet to receive the Lord Jesus into her heart.

This new found love for Jesus brought Vanthet andher four young children much joy and contentment. They also shared this with their families and friendsin the village.

When we arrived, our hearts rejoiced to see a groupof villagers gathered and waiting expectantly forus. The distance we travelled and the tiredness wefelt could not compare with the smiles on the facesof the children and older folks that greeted us.

We took them Khmer bibles as gifts and the ICANInternational team shared the gospel in song anddance, much to the delight and amazement of thevillagers. Eight people gave their lives to the LordJesus Christ that evening.

We had to stay overnight at the tractor drivers homebecause it was getting dark and the continuousevening rain had ooded the nearby river crossings.

We left early morning and had to swim across tworivers to get to the neighbouring village of SreyThnong.

Pastor Moses OConnor and hisve member team arrived into Phnom Penh in

mid-July this year with a heart and passion to visit themission elds in the Kuy lands.

Despite ight delays and setbacks, the team arrivedwith great enthusiasm, in good health and joyfulspirits, thankful to the faithfulness of God. They came

prepared with the gospel in song and dance and wasall eager to hit the mission treks after only 24hourshere in Cambodia.

CMF Cambodia is also excited of great opportunitiesthis network is bringing about for the extension ofthe work here in Phnom Penh and also with the Kuyvillages.

The students and the Kuy people were all excited to

see new faces and new people come to visit them andbless them with gifts and bibles translate into theirown language.

Our programme was an intense one but all thischanged due to the leading of the Holy Spirit thatdirected us to the new Kuy village in Svaay Damnark2.

Pastor OConnor had briefed his team on whatto expect but God stirred up within them greatcompassion for the people. They brought gift packsfor the women and Khmer bibles and demonstratedGods love in action through song and dance. It wasalso the main message of their mission trip, GodsLove In Action.

They travelled 10 kilometres on foot and took a tractor

ride for about ve kilometres before doing ministryto a newly reached Kuy village. They shared thegospel through song and dance to new believers deepin the Kuy Lands of Cambodia. They took shelter forthe night in a villagers home and left before sunriseto make their way back to base camp in Phnom Penh. They swam across two ooded rivers that lled upduring the nights heavy downpours.

They got their rst experience of life in the missionelds with the Kuy people of Cambodia and I believe

they will treasure those moments with joy.

We loved having them here with us and there areplans to come back with more teams before the endof this year.

The visiting ICAN International team from Fiji was shocked to see people moving in droves scavengingrubbish for food, clothing and pieces of cardboard for shelter.

The sight was overwhelming for them but their heart of compassion was much stronger than the sight that wasbefore them or even the stench that permeated their entire being.

The ladies broke down and cried and shook their heads in disbelief at was being played out before them. Thisis the real mission eld where survival of the ttest is experienced.

The team brought cakes and food packs with them to distribute to the people who had gathered around them.

One of the most fullling part of this visit to the rubbish dump site is when they were able to sit on the mudwith them, enter their bare cardboard homes, embrace naked children and seeing the smiles on their faceswhen they were handed food packs.

The teams response was, the harvest is truly plentiful but the labourers are few.

They have promised to send more teams on their next visit in November and December this year.

Mom is a 23-year-old Childrens ministry teacherin Srey Thnong and is the eldest of six children. When we visited them, the children performed an

action chorus item and this was the rst time forthem to present this form of ministry.

After our visit, the Church in Phnom Penh decidedto support Mom nancially with their new house

building and she was asked to come to PhnomPenh for more discussions. She didnt have anymeans of transport or nances to pay for her wayto the city. She believed in God for His provision.

Her prayer was answered after her father wenthunting and for the rst time hunted a big wild

    boar!

They ate, sold, fed nearby houses and broughtsome for the students at the hostel and myself.Money gained helped with her bus fare.
