A Note from brAdWhat do you worry about? The Bible says that Worry does not add one day

your life. Rather we are assured that If God cares for the birds of the air, He w

surely take care of you. Oswald Chambers once wrote: Worrying always resu

in sin. We tend to think that a little anxiety and worry are simply an indication

how wise we really are, yet it is actually a much better indication of just ho

wicked we are. Fretting rises from our determination to have our own way. O

Lord never worried and was never anxious, because His purpose was never

accomplish His own plans but to fulfill Gods plans. Fretting is wickedness for

    child of God.

Have you been propping up that foolish soul of yours with the idea that yo

circumstances are too much for God to handle? Set all your opinions an

speculations aside and abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1

Deliberately tell God that you will not fret about whatever concerns you. All ofretting and worrying is caused by planning without God.

This week, I pray that if life gets a little worrisome, you will remember that God

    watching over you.

This week I will be at the North American Christian Convention in Cincinnati. Th

will be a great opportunity for us to be encouraged and refreshed. If there a

any emergencies, you can call Dave.

My Wednesday night class will not meet this week, but well resume on July 13 th.

One Piece: An Analogy (Part 1)By Glen Shady

You may or may not know this, but I am a total nerd. I like dabblingwith computers and still enjoy video games. I am into sci-fi and kungfu movies, and I never check books out of the fiction section at thelibrary. Probably the biggest thing that makes me a nerd, though, is mylove for Japanese Anime shows and movies. These are basically

Japanese cartoons that are usually targeted at a young teen audience. So in order for you to get to know me better and for me to encourageyou, I am going to share with you about an anime show I am currentlywatching consistently: One Piece. One Piece is a show about a world where there are basically twodominant powers: pirates and the Navy. The common folk of theworld are caught in between their battles. The main character of theshow, Luffy, is a pirate. The funny thing about Luffy, though, is thathe does not really fit in line with the stereotypes of a pirate. He doesnot steal from people or take over others boats. In fact he does much

more helping of people and loves forming new connections with them

in new places. Because Luffy has branded himself a pirate, though, much of the world still thinks he is a bad guy and wants to see himarrested or worse. Despite this, Luffy sees his life as a life based on thefreedom to live how he thinks he is supposed to. So he does not careabout his branding by or accusations from others, he just does what hethinks is right. There are many groups of believers who are no longer callingthemselves Christians, because the name carries negative overtones forso many people. Many carrying that name have been unloving andsinfully judgmental toward othersor worse. So the world is cryingout against the whole group associated with the name. I encourage you

to not be flustered, though. There is only one true type of Christian;that is somebody saved by Jesus who lives faithfully. So lets learnfrom Luffy. It does not matter what people brand us or associate withus as Christians because with Jesus we have the freedom to live outevery aspect of our life for Gods glory. In the end, we will find whatLuffy finds in episode after episode. If we are willing to stick to ourbeliefs and care about people while forming relationships with them,we will win over many people; not only as allies, but as brothers andsisters in Christ. Everyone is looking for treasure. Since we knowJesus, we know how to help them find it.
