On Friday, July 4th, the 38th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks display will be celebrated on the East River, between lower Manhattan and northern Brooklyn, celebrating America’s 238th birthday. Barges will be set up on the river in the areas just north and south of the Brooklyn Bridge. All vehicular and pedestrian access to the Brooklyn Bridge will be closed beginning at 5 pm on Friday for the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks celebration. It will be reopened after cleanup by sanitation crews.

Local street closures are expected to start at 4 p.m. to continue until midnight as follows –
