Glasgow High School Student Counci members Logan Gunderson and
Luke Breigenzer are hoping the inaugural Paint Run/Walk for the WoundedWarrior Project is a success. Get your entries at the Glasgow Civic Center
Te 2015 Paint Run/Walk will beheld in Glasgow on Saturday, August8th. Sponsored by the Glasgow HighSchool Student Council and theGlasgow Recreation Department, itis a und-raiser or the “WoundedWarrior Project” with the moneyraised to give Wounded Warriors achance to visit us out here in northeastMontana.
Te course is 2.5 miles and windsthrough the south side o Glasgow. Here’s where it gets un: participants
will have powdered paint thrown atthem at various designations on thecourse.
I it doesn’t sound un to havepaint thrown at you, simply google“Te Color Run” on the web andcheck out the images! Te Color Run was ounded inMarch 2011 as an event to promotehealthiness and happiness bybringing the community together to
participate in the “Happiest 5k on thePlanet” and is now the single largestevent series in the world. GHS SUCO leader Rod Karstsaw a Color Run in Billings a coupleo years ago and GRD Director JoryCasterline — while in Minneapolis,Minnesota last year to take in theMajor League Baseball All-Star game— actually participated in a ColorRun. Jory said it turned out to be the
highlight o his trip to the win Cities! Jory and Rod got to talking:“Why can’t we do this in Glasgow?”
So here it is. Glasgow’s first version o Te Color Run, the PaintRun/Walk.
“We can’t call it a Color Runbecause it is a trade-mark name,” Rodexplained.
Student Council members LukeBreigenzer and Logan Gundersonwere eager to jump on board and haveput much effort into Glasgow’s first-ever Paint Run/Walk. Helping outwith the Wounded Warrior Project— a military and veterans charity

State wildlie officials will host five public hearingsto discuss and take comment on a draf environmentalimpact statement or bison conservation and managementin Montana. Bison are currently designated as both a wildliespecies in need o management and a species in need odisease control in Montana.
Te draf statewide bison conservation andmanagement EIS, prepared by FWP, considers thepossibility o bison restoration somewhere in Montanawhere animals could be managed as a native species. Each hearing is set or three hours, rom 6-9 p.m., atthe ollowing locations:• Aug. 4 – Bozeman Holiday Inn; 5 East Baxter Lane
• Aug. 5 – Billings Holiday Inn Grand; 5500 Midland Road• Aug. 18 – Great Falls College-MSU; 2100 16th Ave. S.• Aug. 19 – Malta High School; S. 9th St. W.
• Aug. 26 – Miles City BLM Ofce; 111 Garryowen Road
While no site-specific area is examined, the draf
offers our alternatives. Te “no action” alternative callsor no urther action to restore bison at this time. Tethree other alternatives consider restoration o a publiclymanaged bison herd on:• private and/or public lands o willing landowners;• tribal lands; and/or• a large landscape with minimal livestock conflicts. Potential impacts are evaluated or each alternativebut in lieu o site-specific areas, the draf EIS displayscase studies rom Montana, Utah, Alaska and Canada toillustrate scenarios. Te case studies reflect the general
guidelines or bison restoration discussed in the drafdocument. Selection o any alternative that calls or bisonrestoration would require urther analysis through a site-specific environmental assessment. o comment online, visit FWP’s website at wp.mt.gov. Click on Bison EIS. Te draf EIS will be availableor 90 days o public comment through 5 p.m. on Sept.11. Comments can be mailed to: Bison Conservation andManagement EIS; Montana Fish, Wildlie & Parks; P.O.Box 200701; Helena, M 59620-0701. A final record odecision would likely be finalized early next year.
