Message from the Pastor
Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will be here next Sunday at the 11am Mass to bless the renovations to Holy Rosary church and school. He will be able to see the great work we’ve done at our parish and school these past few years and give us his blessing, not only on the building but more importantly on all of us.
It is amazing what we’ve been able to accomplish here at Holy Rosary (and also at St. Patrick’s) these past few years. Our churches have been renewed physically and spiritually. I think you will agree that the facilities have been greatly improved and beautified, with quality work that will ensure they will last for many years to come. The money you donated has been put to very good use, especially in things that go unseen, like the electrical system, the lighting controls, and the fire alarm. The electrical panel was in great disrepair; so much so that the electrician was amazed that we didn’t have a fire. The new lighting and the controls installed are saving us money and giving us a better control of lighting in church.
The improvements we made, such as terrazzo flooring in the entrance ways, new pews and tile flooring in church, and the new metal roof, are of top quality. They may have cost a little more, but they will last a long way past when the youngest parishioner leaves this earth.
Everyone seems to like the new entrance with the overhang for drop-offs and the bigger, more inviting vestibule. Especially for weddings and funerals, we now have enough room to accommodate everyone. As for the school, the connecting hallway has been the best addition made in a long time. Now our kids don’t have to brave the elements and can safely go to the cafeteria, or music class, or church. And the two new classrooms for our Preschool program are super, especially with the bathroom in the classroom. We can now offer quality facilities for the Pre-K families who enroll their children. Hard to believe we were in those dilapidated modular classrooms just two years ago. I don’t miss ’em at all.
Of course, the crowning jewel of the whole renovation project would have to be the Sacred Heart Adoration Chapel. It is truly an ideal place for peaceful and quiet time in prayer before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. I recall receiving a little bit of concern on the idea of this chapel, but I think everyone who utilizes this space will agree on its immeasurable value for the life of our parishes.
So, once again I say the biggest “thank you” possible for your faith and devotion to Holy Rosary parish and for your generosity in making the renovation possible. We have something great to show the Archbishop and we can be proud of what we have done for the Lord, for our families and for future generations of Catholics of Saint Marys.
