“Grace, Forgiveness, and Enduring Love”
Good morning! It is a joy to be back, and I appreciate the pastoral staff carrying on the work of the ministry in my absence. I also appreciate your loving send-off of Pastor Jarrett, Rebekah, and their children. We will
miss the Jarrett’s, but I know they will continue to be friends of our ministry in the years ahead.
As you know, Pastor Peterman has transitioned as Teen\Family Pastor, and ministry intern, Jon George, has begun overseeing the Children’s ministry with Pastor Peterman’s guidance. I look forward to seeing God use both of these men as they serve at Hillsdale.
“Civility in the Midst of Incivility” My recent travels reminded me how much the world has changed in 2020. The Coronavirus pandemic introduced face masks and social distancing. Many privately owned businesses have closed, big chains stores are struggling, restaurants are changing, and churches are now branded “non-essential” in some states. There is also uncertainty if or when schools, colleges, and universities will open this fall.
Adding to the crisis is a spirit of incivility that is permeating our society. There is an edginess in our nation, and in some cities the tension has gone from simmering to boiling as the threats of violence and murder perpetuate.
How should we respond? What actions can we take to be spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically healthy? I believe one answer is that we have to accept that life and culture have changed, but yet be willing to adapt without compromising our core-Biblical values and convictions.
The Good News: The Gospel message has not changed; however, opportunities have. Technology provides Hillsdale an outreach that was not dreamed of 20 years ago. We not only minister to you and our Tampa Bay neighbors, but we have a worldwide outreach that incudes nations closed to the Gospel! Audio\Video broadcasts of our services are available 24\7 and are followed by people around the world. Hillsdale’s ministry cannot be measured by church attendance only; in fact, the outreach goes far beyond those we see on a weekly basis.
Are we willing to live in the 21st century and take advantage of the opportunities God affords us?
Hillsdale’s Coronavirus Guidelines: You are asked to continue to observe social distancing in the auditorium and classrooms. We also ask that you refrain from physical contact. Masks are encouraged but not required.
