Responsibilities: • Operate tandem truck and trailer combinations when required. This

may also include the picker truck and all other light duty trucks. • Operate light equipment such as a skid steer, loader, small track dozer,

self propelled packers, and tractor pulling a rotovator, disc, packers, rock/root rake, rock picker, grass mower, cultivator and harrows.

• Assist with work within the Flagstaff County shop when required. Washing equipment, assist with servicing or repair of equipment, general shop and yard maintenance.

• Assist in water pumping and culvert thawing. • Assist with bridge maintenance and repairs. • Operate hand power equipment and tools. • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Flagstaff County Safe Work

Practices & Procedures and Policies. • Responsible for maintaining daily cost tracking and ensuring that record

sheets are up to date. • Responsible for ensuring all equipment operated receives daily mainte-

nance and for scheduling servicing when required. • Responsible for making sure all equipment used is kept clean. • Responsible for ensuring work is carried out in a professional, efficient

and safe manner. • Perform all other duties assigned by your supervisor. Qualifications: • Valid Class 1 driver’s license with air endorsement. • Experience in operating trucks and light equipment, and any other relat-

ed courses would be an asset. • Physical capability to perform some heavy manual tasks. • Personal suitability. • Willingness to learn all assigned tasks as set out by your supervisor.

Summary of Position: Reporting to the Economic Development Officer, the Economic Development Coordinator will assist with the implementation of our “Strategic Pathways Plan” which focuses on youth development, supporting businesses, investment attraction, and marketing and branding within the Flagstaff Region.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about community involvement and collaborating with regional businesses and residents. They will be eager to help local businesses thrive and have a strong business foundation to draw upon. Additionally, they will be energetic and enjoy planning, promoting, and executing department events within the Flagstaff Region. Qualifications: • One (1) or two (2) years post-secondary education in a related field such as Business

Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Communications, or equivalent experience. • Knowledge of local government procedures and experience in a municipal environ-

ment will be an asset. • Certified Economic Developer (Ec.D.) designation is desirable. • Self-motivated, proactive, energetic, and goal-oriented with superior interpersonal and

public engagement skills. • Social media skills and website maintenance experience are desirable. • Ability to develop clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written mate-

rials, with excellent communication, organization, and accuracy skills.

Areas of Responsibility: • Work with local businesses, industries, and residents to determine opportunities,

needs, and challenges within the Flagstaff Region. • Work collaboratively with regional economic development and tourism organizations,

and all communities within the Flagstaff Region. • Assist with the attraction and facilitation of new industries, business, and services. • Assist with the research and administration of grant applications for economic, busi-

ness, and community development. • Maintain an active social media platform (i.e.: Website, Facebook and Twitter). • Assist with the development of marketing campaigns and promotional strategies.

Regular Council Meeting of July 17, 2019

2020-2022 Business Plan and Budget—Programs and Services Council directed administration to proceed with the development of the 2020 – 2022 Business Plan and Budget with the following to be developed for consideration: • have an assessment done on cybersecurity and develop a plan • look into alternate options for the delivery of residential dust control off the arterial road network • enhance the dust suppressant test products program • remove 2.75 miles of pavement on the ATCO Road • develop a Patch Construction program

Regional Broadband Project Council confirmed that Flagstaff will continue to participate in Phases I and II of the Regional Broadband Project with an increased requisition of the total $42,000 project cost, due to partial participation from member municipalities.

Village of Forestburg—Request for Support for Greenhouse Industry A letter of support will be forwarded to the Village of Forestburg in support of the completion of a feasibility study for the potential development of a greenhouse industry.

Appointing a Deputy Director of Emergency Management Chad Szott, Health and Safety Officer, was appointed as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management.

Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework—Committee Members Council appointed Reeve Kroetch, Clr. Herle and Clr. Shield as representatives for the development of the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework’s (ICF’s).

Municipal Community Generation Challenge - Expression of Interest A Special Council Meeting will be scheduled for August 6th, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. to review the Expression of Interest for Phase II of the Municipal Community Generation Challenge.
