Happy Independence Day!
I hope you’re enjoying this summer to the
fullest. It was wonderful to see so many
people taking part in the Rally in the Val-
ley weekend! This issue of the Chamber
Advantage is full of great photos of people
enjoying the festivities. Did you have a
favorite part of Rally in the Valley? Or do
you have ideas for new things to bring in next year? If so, please
contact our office as we would appreciate your input to continue to
make the most of this awesome tradition in Valley City.
The next favorite Chamber event will roll out Wednesday, July
22nd when we hope to meet you all downtown (and throughout the
city) for Crazy Days! An action packed day is being planned with
irresistible sales throughout town. Bring the kids to slide down the
giant water slide and play on other inflatable games. Tasty food
will be served and vendors will join our merchants with lots of
great shopping options. Prize Drawings will be at 6:30 pm and
will wrap up in plenty of time to then head over to the City Park
band shell to enjoy hearing Monroe Crossing, a well know blue-
grass & gospel band!
This month the Chamber is pleased to welcome the Sheyenne Val-
ley Community Foundation as the newest Chamber Member. We
also send a heartfelt thank you for the Member Renewals received
this month, listed on page 3.

Customer Service Award
And the Customer
Service Award goes
to…
Joe Lokken
“Since the first day I signed on with BEK Communications, they have always stayed in contact with me either by phone
or just stopping by to make sure the transition was going smoothly and always answering our questions. A recent
change in our Credit Card system due to new changes coming this fall was getting to be more that I wanted or could
handle. I’m not an IT person! The first machine sent out failed to work. With the delivery of a second machine by the
credit card company rep, I also called in Joe Lokken from BEK who showed up to help, if needed. After an hour and the
machine still not working the credit card rep left (another appointment) it in my hands, along with their credit card tech
via the phone. Joe stayed at the store and installed a dedicated line and worked via the phone (at one time on a confer-
ence call with 3 credit card company techs) for another 2 hours to resolve the problem and see that the machine was
working properly before leaving. I believe Joe and his crew (Keith and Derek) have all the patience in the world,
friendly and very understanding, making me feel like my business was top priority. I believe they all have gone above
and beyond for our business. I highly recommend Joe Lokken and BEK communications for the Customer Service
Award.” -Anonymous Customer
