Middle School and High School Angels Game
Friday, July 24th is Angels game night for Middle School and High School
families. $25/adult, $20/student. Meet at the Laguna Niguel Metrolink Station at
5:30PM. Cost includes ticket to the game, train ticket to the stadium, and a free Angels
Hawaiian shirt! Families welcome but students may come without parents. Click here to
sign up!
Representatives of our congregation and family members attended the Sunday luncheon in Fellowship Hall to honor the Taylor family
and YWAM Missions. Andrew, Connie, Annalie and Natasha spoke and a slide show accompanied their remarks. The salad lunch was
provided by members of the Mission Committee. It was a fun and very interesting event and we all agreed we were blessed to hear
their wonderful missions in the UK, Ukraine, and Philippines.
Booklets and a newsletter were available for further information. The Taylor’s were thrilled to see old and new friends, including
Pastor Steve and look forward to our continued partnership!
Reading
Group meets all
summer long. A fun
summer read is "The
100 year Old Man
Who Climbed Out
the Window and
Disappeared" by
Jonas Jonasson. We
welcome you to the discussion on July 10 9:30 -11 in the SCPC
Library. Read ahead for August 14, "The Explorers" by Martin
Duggard.
We meet the 2nd Friday of the month, 9:30-11am in the SCPC
Resource Library. All are welcome. Contacts: Bob and Mary Ann
Whittier, 498-4526, [email protected]
Relay for Life – San Clemente Join the SCPC Steppin’
Forward team at the San Clemente High School July 25-26, 2015. At
this wonderful event, participants can take a turn walking around the
football field for one hour, so that a vigil of hope and support is kept
going for a full 24 hours! The day begins with a survivors' lap, and there
is a very moving luminaria candlelight vigil for one hour in the eve-
ning. There are speakers, local singers and musicians, hourly activities,
and lots of great fellowship! Please contact Katie Robinson (on the
patio, by phone at 949-361-0168, or at [email protected]) to
sign up for any hour you want to come. Let's see if we can keep
our relay team going all day!
MEN OF SCPC
It has been a long time coming, but we are thrilled to announce that a
date has been set for the annual MENS RETREAT. This will be held
the weekend of October 9 to 11, 2015 at the Palo Mesa Resort and
Golf Course down in Fallbrook, California – a 45 minute drive from
San Clemente. We will start with a Friday night dinner and devotional
and end Sunday morning with breakfast and worship service at the
resort. This will be a wonderful opportunity and time for the men of
our church to have fellowship, sing to the LORD, and get spiritually
rejuvenated. Our guest speaker will be announced later in July. A
limited number of partial scholarships will be available. Please con-
tact Dick Veale at 949-600-3226 or Gary Mogster at 949-366-6577
or Hal Barnett at 949-498-3902 or sign up at the church office or
Pastor Steve Schibsted’s sermon from Sunday, “God Will Finish the Job”
can be watched now by clicking this link!
Walkie Talkies will be participating in the American Cancer
Society's "Relay for Life" on Saturday, July 25 at 8:00 am at the San
Clemente High School.
August 29th we will be walking the new "Marblehead Trail" but start
at church at 7:30 am as usual.
Starting August 29, Jann Tidemanis and Linda Hughes will be your
new co-leaders.
Summer Camp
and Your
Prayers
For rest of this week and
next week SCPC will have
4 different age groups to
two different camps for
what could impact our kids
at just the right time.
Forest Home will get our 3rd-6th graders, Hume Lake in San Diego
(on Point Loma's campus) will get our Middle School and High School
students.
Emerald Cove (EC) has been an incredible partner for our 7th-12th
grade summer camps over the years. The early CUSD start date
prevented us from returning to EC this year. We are extremely
grateful for the partnership of the Kuljis family over the years. EC is
one of our students favorite places in the world. Oh and we're
confident that SCPC and our favorite camp up north will continue to
partner together to minister to our community.
While we don't know exactly what the future will be for SCPC
Summer camping, we're confident that both Forest Home and Hume
San Diego will be a real blessing to our community for the summer of
2015. But we also know that prayer works. Please be praying with
us that God will give our students (and leaders) eyes to see and ears
to hear. Pray that our time at camp will be a truly powerful vision of
Christian community that our students will not only crave, but will
seek to pass on to others. Finally, pray for our committed adult
leaders (many of whom take a week of vacation to lead!). Pray for
wisdom, peace, and perseverance.
Updates will come of what God has in store for us...

INDOOR RESIDUAL SPRAYING PROGRAM
Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) has been the main malaria control
strategy implemented by Nkhoma Primary Health Care since 2009.
This involves spraying insecticide in the houses of each village. The
number of households sprayed has increased from 6,465 in 2010 to
29,646 in 2014, thanks in part to the Y-Malawi partner churches who
financially supported our Nkhoma Hospital and World Vision
partners. The aim of the
program is to improve
maternal and child health in
the Nkhoma Hospital
catchment area. The high
coverage has reduced the
numbers of children with
malaria by 50%.

MY HEART WAS TOUCHED by Allie Schibsted
Going to Campo Esperanza was very different
from other trips I’ve taken to Mexico. We not
only had the opportunity to spend time at the
camp, but had time to spend at the homes of
the families outside of the camp, as well. My eyes were opened to the
poverty and hardships of these families, but it moved my heart to still
see the evident generosity
and humility overflowing
within them. One mother
that I talked to for a long
time was so humble and
mature that I thought she
was somewhere close to 25
years old, finding out later
that she is younger than
me—being only 18 years old. I learned that her entire extended family
all lives together, and needs more clothes, shoes, and gas for their
stoves. God really worked in this trip in the sense that we were able to
connect so much with these families; we were able to hear of their
requests and necessities so that we can bring them the next time we
go. God really touched my
heart through this trip, and
this experience and this
family specifically has been
on my mind and my
prayers since I have
returned home.
The next Campo Esperanza trips are scheduled for July 10-11 and July 24-25.
Contact Crystal Bonilla at [email protected] if you are interested in serving
on either of these missions trips.
